Floppy discs?

Floppy discs? (post #57208)

Going through many things here and found two software programs, one on wine and one is a Mr Boston bartender's guide. I've been a mac/apple user for twenty years and I've never seen a "floppy disc". It's actually floppy- who knew? Do I just throw them away?

You can either throw them away, or use them as coasters,or maybe as floppy frisbees. I doubt that there's anything else they're good for - certainly not as repositories of information (which makes me very nervous,come to think about it. What happens to all the data currently stored on DVDs and CDs when the inevitable happens, and there's another seismic shift in format?)

I thought as much but then I wondered if people transfered the info onto a newer format, like movies to DVD.

You probably can, though I think you'd have to find a service that does that. I think the key question is whether the value of the program or information justifies the effort and expense.

If they have anything you want on them, send them to me, and I will transfer them to DVD for you.  Otherwise, trash them.  I think we still have one computer which reads floppies, LOL.
