DC/MD/VA/etc. Mini-Fest?
There seem to be a sizable number of us these days... anyone up for a mini-fest (aka a meal, maybe an outing)?
Maybe sometime in February, since the inauguaration weekend will throw many monkey wrenches into January? Selfishly, I will be on vacation the last week of Jan. and would hate to miss it. :-)

I would gladly drive up. I think it's only about 6 hours from here, and surely my knee will be feeling up to it by then. Of course, if it isn't, one of you youngsters can help me from the car, LOL.

I've followed your Fest reports and they sound like great fun. I'd like to join you all.

Count me in! I'll be in Washington from mid-Jan through late May. My only constraint is that I don't have a car, so it would help a lot if we could plan to do something at a location near Metro. What a lovely thing to look forward to!

Tracy, I think that's a great idea, count me in (based on calendar, of course). Can't wait.
MadMom...don't worry, if you get here I'll carry you piggy-back if necessary (at least two steps, I promise!).

Jim, I might try to make it just for the joy of seeing you try to carry me! Seriously, I am getting much better. Sleep the night through and sometimes at night forget which leg had the surgery. I have no trouble walking, even up and down stairs, but still have problems if I stand or sit for a long time. Hoping all that will disappear soon. I have my six months followup appointment with the surgeon on February 18 - hopefully I will dance my way there.

Wonderful idea, Tracy! I would love to come, depending on timing. Have a very ill family member to consider, hope the timing works out for me!

Oh, wouldn't that be nice! I'm two hours away, and would love to be included; I used to live in DC, and have friends that house me from time to time...

Anybody have any ideas of what we want to do for the get-together? If we are a fairly reasonable number, the building I live in has a party room that we could use.

If it's in late February Mean and I might journey up your way.
I am having my other Achilles tendon repaired on the 2nd but should me able to get around by late February...weather and leg permitting...LOL....keep us posted.

Oh, please do. If you want to swing by Southern Pines, I will gladly pay for the DC gas from here. We're down to one car now, so it's kind of hard for me to drive somewhere. I should mention that I'll be flying to Cincinnati with AntiCook and her youngest daughter on February 22 and returning on the 26th, so that time frame is bad for me. Anything after???

At this point January is practically over, and February is such a quick month with so much going on (for me, at least) that it might be tough to get something scheduled in time.
How do y'all feel about March? I can safely say anytime in March looks good, for now. ;-)

March works for me. How about early to mid March?

Early March is great for me. Looking forward to it!
Depending on the date and time, I could offer my son's Cooking Studio. It will handle 20 comfortably, and a kinda crowded 24-26. We could arrange cooking demo's or individuals could bring their ingredients and cook there. We are about 10 miles north of the DC beltway in Gaithersburg, MD just off I270.

Of course! The more the merrier, anyone and everyone within earshot is invited. :-)

Sounds like a plan...early March could probably be safer weatherwise if that's okay with Tracy....We'll also have to find a place for Nutmeg to bunk while we're gone, but I'll work on that...
