OK. I've signed up. I kept putting it off because I never seemed to have my customer number with me when I was within reach of the computer, so I finally just called Taunton customer service. The very friendly person on the other end got me my info in a jiffy.

I've tried the "create your own recipe" thing for stuffing. We'll see how it turns out when I actually cook the recipe I created.

Good to hear from you, have not seen your posts lately, although, to be honest,  I don't have much time to read many posts.

Keep us posted how FC online works out for you.  I have not done much on FC on line yet because of total lack of time. I joined the moment I learned it exists.  The first thing I did was was to check for Ruth Lively, I have been collecting her recipes, printing them out, putting in a plastic protector sleeve, keeping all of them in a special folder and  using them all the time.  I discovered a few of her recipes I somehow missed, looking at them I decided I died and went to heaven.  (If they ever publish her book, I will buy it without perusing or checking reviews. L)

I was so happy, I tried to e-mail  Ms. Lively by pressing the " tell us what you think" button, but each time it brought me to "Feedback" on CT, so I gave up.   So far, if I have any criticism of FC on line, it is a lack of ability to contact the FC  people responsible for the recipe without sharing my thoughts urbi et orbi.

Aha! I think you just solved the mystery of why so many new people suddenly started showing up and posting criticisms of the new on-line content in the Feedback folder.

Aha, it all makes sense, once you have all the pieces!  :-)

I couldn't find it either, though I'm not a member.

Has anyone apologized to all those innocent people who were treated like trolls?

If we could be sure that such a button really existed I do think that yes, we'd owe them an apology.

I can testify to the existence of that button.  When bal first mentioned it, I found it and, indeed, it did bring me back to "Feedback."  I don't remember where it was now, but I can no longer find it; so I suspect that the staff realized the mistake and removed the linkage.

Please explain to me why you think they did not act like trolls. Whether there's a button or not (and I looked long and hard and couldn't find it-I even logged out and it is not anywhere I could see) does not negate the fact that those posters posted like trolls upon arrival.

The ones who were treated were, to my memory, the ones who referred to us in quite unflattering terms.

Why should anyone apologize?

The fact that they aren't fake personas does not excuse the extremely rude behavior several of them displayed.

I'm still not convinced they weren't fakes.

This button theory doesn't make sense because no newcomer started a thread praising the new website. Surely in the universe of FC subscribers there was also at least one person who wanted to push the button to say thanks. So how come none of the polite people started a new thread in the right place with a new screen name but a few previous posts to their credit?

I seem to have missed the whole kerfuffle.  What posts are y'all talking about?

TracyK's picture

It's really not worth dragging back up again, but there was a rash of first-time posters who would come on, post about how much they hate having to pay for FC online, and disappear like the fine morning mist, and some folks felt it was too much to be coincidental.

As this seems to be a rant thread, I really dislike these new adverts that pop up.:(

Technically, they don't pop up, they just appear on the page... I've almost stopped noticing them already. I am so not the target audience for website banner ads. :-)

Yes I know, and I will get used to them as they will never go away. I just thought that I would express my dislike! Do you think it would help if I told them that I don't watch commercial television? ;)

Neither do I, however I do buy their magazines, which contain quite a few ads. All in good taste I might add.

Click on the HOME tab in the upper left of the screen, then scroll down.  It's near the bottom.  I thought I've seen it other places, but right now this is the only place I can find it.

On my screen next to the home tab is "My Fine Cooking" adding my own recipes is a link under there.  Not sure if that tab exists because I've paid or if everyone sees it.

That's not what I mean. I have that too. I am looking for where you create/write/develop your own recipe, not just add your own to your database. If I understand it, they are two different things.
