#96 Cinnamon-Caramel-Ganache Layer Cake

Sheri's picture

This is one fantastic cake. It got rave reviews tonight. Very light cake, delicious cinnamon chocolate caramel filling. I love Alice Medrich and I plan on making the other two recipes in the article.

Guess I know for sure what I'm baking for Gary's birthday!

My timing was off and I started to make the caramel before the cream had finished steeping. I only steeped the cinnamon in the cream for 10 minutes (instead of 15). The cinnamon flavor was still very prominent in the filling.

Sounds delicious, I can hardly wait

I brought half a cake in to work. It got devoured. Gary is going to love it.

Interesting.  I did receive my issue, but have not had a chance to look at it yet, so I went online to look at the recipe, and nothing came up!  Sometimes I wonder why I am paying for a online subscription!!!

It should have been very simple, but I put the exect same words in as you did at least three times, and it came up 0.

Since it's from the current issue, it may not be in the general database yet. But if you go to the "current issue" page, it's there.

It also helps to make the proper sacrifices to the Search Deities (apparently they appreciate alcohol, chocolate & bacon...not necessarily in that order)<G>.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with parsley sauce, goat cheese garlic mashed potatoes, Galena Cellars Niagra grape wine & Pie Boss's apple crumble topped with Ruth & Phil's sour cream/cinnamon ice cream.

Click on recipes.  When the main page comes up instead of typing in the recipe click on desserts on the left column and it will be the recipes up.

Baked the Caramelized Pear Tart from #96 today.  It looks delicious, but haven't tasted it yet.  I'm thinking some unsweetened whipped cream will be the perfect topping.

Past your lips right to your hips. :) Go ahead, sweeten the whipped cream just a little. YUM.

But you have to be standing up.  How is that knee, BTW?

It was absolutely delicious.  The cake tasted almost like a spice cake, not overly sweet at all.  We were just snacking tonight, so it was an excellent finish to our "meal."

Very professional looking!  Maybe I'll try it this weekend.

It really was surprisingly good.  Thanks for your "professional" comment, although I've always thought taste was the most important thing, and some of my efforts prove that!  I'm trying to convince myself to cut it and freeze it, just to keep DH and I from eating it all up.

Edited because I meant to add that I was afraid the caramel sauce would be too icky sweet, but it wasn't at all.  Just gave a nice taste to the pears.  I'll definitely make this one again.

Good to know that it isn't too sweet.  I wondered about that when I read through the recipe.

Thanks to everyone.  Can't say if it freezes, because we've eaten it all.  This is definitely a keeper.
