#81 arrived today and there's an ad -- for The Best of Fine Cooking CHOCOLATE 75 Delicious cookies, brownies, cakes & impressive desserts.  Taunton might have given the advertisers a "heads up," as the first right-hand page, sponsored by Nestle Chocolatier,  shows a cake that looks as decadent as they come.

Will have to try the Tapas party that starts on page 76.

I'm no where near the west coast and I don't have mine either.

My mother's menu consisted of two choices: Take it or leave it.

Something to look forward to, I guess!!!! BTW, spent several years in Michigan. Worked in Flint, lived in Detroit, Livonia, and Dearborn when I was first married, one other town, but right now the name escapes me. Are you near any of those places? Back in "those" days, I remember Detroit had some wonderful jazz clubs where the old-time musicians would hangout.

Nope, we're on the other side of the state.  When we talk about The Big Lake we mean Lake Michigan.

Mine arrived today too and this looks like a really good one. I'm very excited about the small Thanksgiving as the heritage turkey I ordered is a small one. Also the cooking without recipes article on stuffing looks great-- ah, the combinations. Butternut squash is one of my favorite vegetables too. Yum.

Arrived in today's mail, SW of Chicago.

Oven & 2 front tires. My little bling-bling.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with parsley sauce, goat cheese garlic mashed potatoes, Galena Cellars Niagra grape wine & Pie Boss's apple crumble topped with Ruth & Phil's sour cream/cinnamon ice cream.

Finally got mine today.

The tips are still pretty lame, especially parchment for adding flour. I think the old way was on waxed paper maybe.

BUT, putting dishes in the microwave could be a big no no.  If they are pottery they may crack.  Maybe the time would be OK--but I'm not putting my Stangl in.

And the pond crossing was completed for mine too. You're right, the tips get lamer.

Always take a good look at what you're about to eat. It's not so important to know what it is, but it's critical to know what it was.

Age is unimportant unless you’re a cheese.

I think the test of how big an FC addict you are is whether you can see the new issue at Costco before yours arrives, and not buy it.  I was shopping at Costco last Sunday, and, as of Monday, I had an extra copy of the magazine to give away...

...what is the holdup??? When many of us voiced our concern about having to wait up here in Canada , I remember it being said that the issues would be mailed at the beginning of the month and not the middle.....what gives????

It  honestly makes me want to cancel my order....

I haven't gotten mine yet either - and I agree Rhea, it seems like it would be easier just to go to the store and buy it - and have it when the rest of the world does - no fun waiting til its "OLD NEWS".
