We've had an interesting couple of weeks. Long story short, DH had angioplasty this past Monday and two stents were inserted to relieve blockage in a main arterty to his heart. He's feeling fine and was back in the office on Wednesday. He'll be able to start exercising in the next week or so. Today's medical technology is truly amazing. We already eat pretty healthfully, but this will require more attention to no-nos, especially saturated fats, so I've been researching cookbooks that emphasize low fat, heart-healthy foods. Most of the ones I saw are pretty grim.
I looked through Ellie Krieger's The Foods You Crave yesterday and it seems to have a nice variety of low fat recipes that actually sound like REAL good food. EatingWell's Recipes For Two also looked good. I really like the nutritional tables at the end of each recipe in these books. I'm sure that I'll be able to judge what I'm putting into a dish pretty well once I get a basic understanding of food values in my head. Does anyone have either of these? Can anyone recommend others?
