StacyD's picture

Hi Everyone,

I'm sure many of you have seen The Good Cook Year End Blow Special that starts tonight at midnight with cookbooks on sale for $9.99?

I wanted to know if you have feedback regarding:

1.Nighella's Express

2. Tyler's Ultimate (I have his Real Kitchen cookbook and it's ok)

3. Cat Kora - Cooking From The Hip

4. At Home With Michael Chiarello

I already have Barefoot Contessa and Giada's cookbooks and really like them, so wanted to find out more about the cookbooks mentioned above.

If you have any other favorites let me know!

Thanks in advance! Have a great holiday season!!!

For $9.99, I'd probably buy them all :)  to restrict to two, I'd buy Nigella and Michael

I keep wanting to join the Good Cook but I can never seem to find 4 or 5 cookbooks I want and don't already own.

Someday...

You can never cancel--you will keep receiving mailings telling you that you can order more books with no obligation. And emails as well. They want to be your friend forever. ;-)

I also just canceled. I found their constant emailings to be borderline harassment. I have also emailed customer service to stop emails three times. Haven't stopped yet.

I had trouble cancelling as well. They kept insisting I owed them more money, when in fact they were sending me the same bill over and over.
Agree about the harrassing!

You people can't cancel, and I tried three times to join and they never accepted me, although they assured me each time my application was being processed.  Helwidim.

Actually, we once considered naming a boat "El Widim" to give it sort of a Spanish touch.

I've been a member for years, but rarely buy anything.  The prices at Jessica's or Amazon are always better and I like the free shipping.  I spent a whole lot of time last night trying to find a couple of cookbooks I wanted from Good Cook's offerings.  Nada.

They have the same deal on Book-Of-The-Month-Club.  That's a different story.  DH and I found several we wanted.

Q: The prices at Jessica's or Amazon are always better...

That is really comforting to know. I always wondered what happened after your "obligation" was done.

Thanks!

Oh man I have been so good this year and have restricted my cookbook buying to books I have checked out of the library and really used. Then I open my email this morning to find this sale. I have seven in my cart right now and can't decide. I think I will stock up on some others for gifts too. At $9.99 you can't go wrong.

I have At Home with Michael C, in fact it was one I bought this year. I have used it tons.

Here is my list:

New England Soup Factory

Crescent City Cooking

How to Cook Everything Vegetarian

Everyday Pasta

On Top of Spaghetti

Nighella's Express

Feedback anyone??

I decided to place an order for one of my sons, who loves to cook. There was one book I wanted on African cooking that was not there when I browsed, so I typed it in and there it was. I guess what I am telling you is that if there is a book you want and it is not coming up in the browse section type it in. They have more than what is on their page under each category. At $10 you can't beat it. I ordered him 5 and he will be so happy and surprised! He is a struggling, just out of college kid, so this will be a treat for sure.
