Delia cheats again

ashleyd's picture

Another bestseller, even before release (Amazon has huge orders) is Delia Smith's How to Cheat at Cooking, also the title of her original book. This time she recommends using some commercial products as shortcuts, even tinned stuff (oh the humanity!) and instant potatoes (oh noooooooo!). But as she says anything that can encourage people to cook and eat decent food in todays "rush rush" society has got to be worth doing. One of the few cookbook authors whose recipes are always fully tested, people of any level of skill can guarantee that if they follow them they will work and be tasty.

I am a huge Delia fan.  But I am getting quite a giggle at the moment from the controversy she's stirring up by coming out, sort of, for battery chickens and against organic food.  cheers, Bonnie

Well not for battery chickens but she does realise that is all some people can afford, so better that with a few veg than some high calorie snack food. As for organic she says she's for tasty food, and if it's organic that's a plus, I quote, "I'm a cook, not a politician".

"I'm a cook, not a politician". Love it.
