Better prices for cookbooks...

Biscuit's picture

I know that many of us buy cookbooks at Amazon because of their discounts.  But may I suggest that anyone considering purchasing a cookbook from Amazon do a price check at Jessica's Biscuit first?  The last 5 or 6 cookbooks I've purchased I've done a price check and found Jessica's Biscuit with much lower prices, AND they have the same "free shipping over $25 purchase" deal as Amazon.

Just suggesting...  www.ecookbooks.com

Today I finally gave in and bought Tom Colicchio's 'Wichcraft, and Hubert Keller's Burger Bar.  After watching Hubert Keller make that burger on Top Chef Masters, I just had to have it.

That's a really good suggestion. I usually do a check with Amazon, BN.com and Jessica's Biscuit. My impression is that J'sB has come down in price, perhaps because of the economy. They've always had bargains, but they do seem better. I will say that their shipping is slow, but waiting is sometimes not such a bad thing....

Is that company that sold all their books for 9.99 including shipping still around? I used to buy from them a lot. They don't carry every cookbook there is, but the selection was pretty good.

Zooba? Zooma?

I'll have to search in my emails.

I don't know, but those words have a familiar ring. It was something similar, but I'm not sure.

Zooba. You had to make a list, and then they were shipped--one a month?

You can opt to have several shipped at once.

Zooba.

Once you get them to stop bombarding you with emails, it is great.
$9.99 a book, once a month. I think you are obligated to buy 3 and can then quit, but I've stayed a member. You keep a list, and once a month they send you what you have listed next. You can always buy more books at that price.

They don't have everything, but do have a big selection. Between cookbooks and novels, I always have a list there.

I've been buying cookbooks from Jessica's for quite awhile.  The prices are almost always lower than Amazon and you still get free shipping with a $25 order.  Shipping is usually slower, but that doesn't bother me.

I think JB is much cheaper and they do have just abut everything. I just bought Gordon Ramsey's Fast Food and Mark Bittman's Kitchen Express.consistently, JB is cheaper.

I've bought at JB, but often buying it used on Amazon is a GREAT buy--especially for just one book.

Most of my cookbooks are used from Amazon and less than 10 bucks including shipping.

Any Prime members at Amazon, a lot of booksellers are going with Amazon fulfillment, so shipping is 'free' and free over $25 total for non prime members. I've started looking for sellers who use Amazon to ship exclusively. They're growing bit by bit. Also, you end up with Amazon's customer service, which is wonderful.

I bought 'Witchcraft for the Hubby's birthday, and we're LOVING it.

I love Tom Colicchio, and for some reason, this family is really into sandwiches - not just the every-day kind, but all kinds, including the over-the-top kind! (g)  Figured this book will give me some new and fresh ideas for this winter when we have soup and sandwich night a lot more often.

I LOVE JB.

And thanks to Wisekaren, I now know they have a local retail store that is staffed by REAL bookstore people.
