Corrupt Cookbook in MasterCook?!
Corrupt Cookbook in MasterCook?! (post #57188)

I have MasterCook 6.2. From what I have read on the Yahoo Group, I sounds like I have a corrupt cookbook. (Nothing happens when I click on the icon of my cookbook.) There is a link in one of the messages to an e-mail address for the moderator (I guess) who will "uncorrpupt" it. Success depends on how corrupt the file is. I'm waiting to hear back. My question is whether anyone has ever had this problem with MC? If you have, how did you fix it? (BTW, yes I do back up the file, but I hadn't done it in about 100 recipes.)
Thanks,
Jocelyn

Yes, I've had a corrupted cookbook and it was huge... over 4000 recipes. Sent it to the Sweet Peas and they managed to save most of them. The awful part is that I lost all my categorizing. Some day i will have to start working on that. :( In the meantime, using the search usually helps me find what I want.
No clue as to what caused it either.

I think I know the answer to this, but are the categories still listed in the recipe itself or are they gone altogether? If I am really industrious LOL I could match up the old file with the (hopefully) recovered one and figure out what's missing and what categories things were in. Can't imagine a more tedious task! I used to be proud that I had input 3400 recipes. Now I am sorry!

I think I'll just recategorize the recipes as I use them again, or as they come up on a search. The prospect of making a project of it is too daunting.

Thanks for telling us about this. You reminded me that I hadn't backed up my MC database in a long time.
It should be safe now.
