Alternative Recipe/Ingredient Software (post #57214)

Hi all! I'm new to the forums, though I've been reading Fine Cooking for a couple of years now. I don't know if this is of interest to anyone, but I wrote an article on my blog about using MediaWiki (the software that runs Wikipedia) to keep track of my recipes, as well as link in my ingredients and keep track of alternate names for ingredients. One of the really slick things about using MediaWiki is the categories - I can label a recipe with as few or as many different categories, which can really be helpful when you want to narrow down your recipe search to specific cooking methods, meals, or ethnicities.
Anyway, if anyone's interested, it's on http://matthewmiddleton.ca/?p=9
Cheers!
Matt

Very cool idea, but way over my head. Let us know how it works out for you.

It's been working well so far, except that I can't seem to keep up with the number of recipes I want to enter - for every recipe I enter, I find 2 or 3 more that I want to enter! *LOL*

Recipe collection is definitely an obsession! I know I'm uncontrollable. The software you're developing needs an "ENOUGH!" filter! :)

I use a piece of inexpensive software called "Personal Knowbase" to organize recipes. I can use tags - and the search function is really good.

But I will check out the wiki thing as well
