We must be on the same trip, dixie, because I can't get the one new message to go away on kitchen equipment either.

Same here, Dixie. Been seeing that "New Message" forever. I call it "The Phantom Message".

And here I thought I was the only one who had to subtract one from the number of new messages shown for Kitchen Equipment . . . sniff, it's so good to find others of my kind!

Dixie, my ghost message haunts the Recipe folder :) Maybe we need a contest: who has the most ghosties?

I have the same Kitchen Equipment ghost new message myself.

Hmmm... sadly, this is the kind of stuff that keeps me thinking.

But you're the kind of guy that loves a challenge, right David?

Hey Dixie - welcome to the wonderful world of "Pet New Message Owners." I have 2 myself, one in Kitchen Equipment, one in Recipes. Perhaps we should have a club like the American Kennel Club proudly displaying our ghost messages for all the world to see - discussing the feeding habits of such creatures, networking for mating, etc.?

Chiff:

I have so many ghost messages I've given them names: great-uncle Archibald, cousin Hattie twice removed, Percival the Palaverer, etc.

One advantage of the date-of-last-message feature was its ability to tell you if there
b is
a new message or if it's just Archie stumping around in the attic again. Not a good enough reason to re-instate a feature that may be over-loading the board though. We'll just give David yet another title: David the Exorcist

On the other hand, when the site is moving at this speed who cares if you have to click on an extra folder or three (mine are in recipes, kitchen equipment and more sites to see)!

Zal - Don't fret - David says that the "ghost" message problem
b must
be worked out in order to
i not
include the number of new messages next to the subfolders. Given the amount of work the Sysops have put into this project so far, I have no doubt they will get this ironed out.
