Cajun Injector

On a trip round an outlet kitchen shop (who can resist a new gadget?) I bought a cajun injector. Tried it out on a chicken breast using fresh pineapple and soy sauce, which was interesting. I did try a marinade for chicken I had in the cupboard but it just clogged the nozzle. So anybody out there got any hints, tips or recipes for this new piece of kitchen kit?

Ashley my man! Please don't tempt me this way!

Seriously, though - can't help you on this one - that is a gadget I don't have!

Is this another way of putting the needle in? ;-)

Assuming this is just a glorified syringe, just about anything you'd usually use as a marinade or basting sauce will work, just strain it first if it contains chunks. I've been doing turkey this way for years. And needless to say, dark colored solutions injected into pale meat will discolor it. There was the time my father (self procalimed non-cook) got carried away and injected cranberry juice in the turkey...

I know that this thread is old, but with the SNAFUs, maybe it will come back to life.

I've had problems too with my new injector. I have found that even powdered spices (e.g., paprika) will clog the thing, and this has made the whole process frustrating. I also had problems drawing up a whiskey/butter/sugar mixture for a whiskey cake.

Any thoughts besides only injecting distilled water?

TIA,

Christopher

How large a bore is the needle (no, I know it is probably a very interesting needle, etc.). Maybe a larger gauge needle will not clog.

I think MC or Chiff had a response, now gone, about making the thing clog less. Guys?

Sorry, Wolvie, it must have been Mean. I have one of those hypodermic flavor injector thingies, but I don't use it much.
