Blenders
I know we have had discussions about blenders, but the search function says otherwise. DD has a blender on her Christmas list. I have a Waring Professional, which is a great blender, but it only has two speeds and I think she will want more options. What do the rest of you recommend?

I loved my Waring (post #68011, reply #1 of 12)
I loved my Waring Professional but it finally gave up. I have a Breville and LOVE it. It does the best smoothies and seems to plow through anything.
Just stay away from the KA; a few of us here have started a club to moan about them. They are useless and can come apart (full of course) while you're taking the beaker off the stand.

Oh, lovely. I'm sure that would be a happy occurence. I'll look at the Brevilles. I had an Oster for many years that had 10 speeds, which came in handy at times. I should take a look at them, too. Thanks Canuck.

Mine was full of hot soup at the time. Stupid KA. I know Glenys had the same thing happen.
Oster does seem a good blender for the price. Breville's expensive but we use it daily.

Is it time for me to chime in and say I LOVE my VitaMix?

And, I hated my KA. Hot soup all over me, too, the d#@$@# piece of junk.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just got a Breville. Used it the first time today. OMG, a smoothie button? It works so well! I have a smoothie almost every day and I was having to hand-crush my ice with a plastic bag and a mallet because my old blender left ice chunks.

Ha ha! At that price, she ain't gettin' a Vitamix from me. Seriously, she only wants it for smoothies and such, not serious pureeing.

I hardly use mine anymore, as I always seem to reach for my KA immersion blender!

Hey Lee! I have an 'Osterizer' 14 speed and it has a glass top, which is nice and heavy. It is a breeze to clean- which is a biggy for me. I got it at Wal-Mart a couple of years ago and can't remember exactly what I paid but I think it was around $30-40. I really like it.
But, but, it's SUPPOSED to taste like that!

I'm joining the chorus of say no to KA blenders. Overpriced and underfunctioning. I hate the thing. My Braum immmersion blender is soo much nicer to use.
