poppies (post #52407)

First the disclaimer...I have never downloaded pics from my mobile to the computer before, and I've made a merry mess of it (I have 12 copies of every picture I had on my phone!).

2 weeks ago, when we were going down to the village for my father-in-law's memorial, we stopped at the tolls outside of Corinth and saw this lovely field. I took a picture to share with you.

Second disclaimer...the picture is sideways and me be too large (or not)...hopefully one of the 'angels' here can put things right.

Oh, that is just beautiful. And I loved Corinth. And I love poppies. Thank you.

I never know how it is going to come out, because I have a pretty large monitor, but at least I tried.  What else could I do?  I wanted to be an angel, you know.

and you succeeded. :-) Now I have to figure out what I did wrong and delete about 387 copies of the other pictures I had on my mobile.LOL

Sometimes that happens.  Younger DD was trying to send some pictures from her cell phone, and ended up sending about 12 copies to each person.  She's much more technically oriented than I am, so have no idea what happened.  One person wrote back that one picture would have been enough, LOL.

Because I like messing about with pictures I've had a go with this, cropped it to square and given it a little "punch". Great picture to start with though.

Beautiful picture Evelyn.  I've saved it in My Pictures  - I think it would be great inspiration for a stunning landscape quilt and next winter that would be a great project to occupy my time during my first year of retirement.  A lot depends on finding just the right fabrics, but I'll give it a good try.

I have always wanted to learn to quilt - probably will never happen as it is not done here in Greece, but I really apreciated the craftsmanship that goes into those works of art (as so many are). I look forward to seeing your creations in the future. :-)

Lovely! Are artists obsolete yet?

ashleyd's picture

Not by a long way! What counts is original vision, Evelyn saw a great picture and captured it, what I did was a bit of mechanical/digital manipulation. There is an analogy in cooking, the really talented pioneers, from Escoffier, through people like Thomas Keller to "molecular gastonomists" like Ferran Adria, create totally new and brilliant dishes which lesser artisans can then tweak and play with to produce similar dishes which are excellent in themselves but still don't have that original spark.

OK - you've gone all impressionistic on me and I'm in love! (Would Jen mind?LOL)

Ashley, I tried to save this pic and the 'punched up' version you did yesterday and they won't save because they are .asp files? (atleast they are when I try to save them) Could you mail them both to me as .jpg files? I think I'm going to have the impressionistic one printed on canvas and framed - it's beautiful! Thanks. :-)

when I try to save them to my pictures using the 'save page as' feature, it shows me something like 'poppies.asp' and then just saves a blank page. Thanks, ashley. :-)

If you right click on the .jpg file (rather than the image) then you get the "save file as" dialog.
