Obama tacks to the right..

Napie's picture

Looks like the messiah is changing his tone.  FISA legislation, death penalty, NAFTA, troops in Iraq for a lot longer….  Hummm, how are liberals feeling about that?

Edited to add: The democrat controlled congress approval rating falls to 9%, the lowest ever.  There’s some real change for ya…

Perhaps they want to match the President's record low approval ratings?  BTW, I think one of the reasons Congress' approval ratings is so low is that the Republicans have blocked any meaningful changes by the failure of the slim majority to get 60 votes.  Perhaps we just need at least 60 Democrats in the Senate in order to get anything done?

I wish it were that simple.  When the chips are down, the dems are too cowardly to do anything at all bold.  if they had any nerve, Bush and Cheney would have been impeached by now.  Every major problem is met with a timid proposal that will do little.  See health care, energy, climate change, the war in Iraq.  God forbid Congress shows any leadership or risks making anyone unhappy.

The only think worse would be if the reps were in charge. They get stuff done, but usually the wrong stuff.

Frankly, I wouldn't mind seeing term limits, or throw them all out and start over!  I agree about impeachment, the only problem would be which one should go first.  I nominate Cheney, because heaven knows he should never be president, which he would be if Bush went first.  Maybe both?  It isn't going to happen.  Funny that a special prosecutor could call Bill Clinton to the stand, but trying to get information out of Bush or Cheney (other than in an informal, no notes, no swearing in type way) is out of the question.  Oh well, 195 more days.  And, according to the Bush Out of Office Countdown Calendar given to me by my Republican DD and DSIL, today is Donald Rumsfeld's birthday.  That makes him and Charlotte almost twins!

Speaking of Charlotte, have you heard from her lately? I emailed her through Taunton and never got a response.

If you read his actual words over the campaign instead of swallowing what the press is saying in order to fill the airwaves, his positions haven't changed much. His Iraq position is exactly the same as what he said in the debates last Fall.

And once again, no one here except you has called him a messiah.

Sigh. . .why do I bother?

Well you tend to point out the logic failures and innate fallacy of his arguments in an elegant and reasoned fashion so I wouldn't be surprised.

Weren't you just protesting loudly the other day on another thread that you treat everyone with respect no matter how much you disagree, unlike us "navel gazers"?

You're mixing up 'respect' with 'treating with respect'. Not always one in the same.

Napie,

I will miss you if you ever get fed up with the abuse and leave here. You are the only one who has had the guts to stir the pot from time to time. I thoroughly enjoy your take on the various topics you chose to discuss and have found you generally more polite than the responders.

Cheers,

Wow, thanks!  I’m too stupid and thick skinned to leave because they are less than nice to me, (funny how they see it in me but not in themselves huh?).  Be careful though, you do not want to be to closely associated with me, they will turn on you like rabid wolves.

Cool!  DGD a park ranger at Big Bend has photographed a couple of bears there. Not a usual sighting at that park.

Never mess with a mama bear when she has cubs around!  Although one of those cubs sure enjoyed messing with the wolf, so long as Mom was around to back him up!

I disagree that Napie is particularly polite. sometimes his tone may be, but he wraps it around condescention, insult and incendiary remarks.

Biscuit- ITA that flip-flopping is just a disgruntled way to say that someone is willing to look at ever-changing facts. I meant to post that myself, but I generally try not to contribute to Napie's threads, since he's not a hottie.

Given the terribly rude comments you made at the time regarding the military it was a perfectly reasonable conclusion. But that was months ago, let it go already.  However maybe all you have to do is practice grudge holding, boring life huh?

Can you please put me back on ignore now?  And take your ball and go home with it.

TracyK's picture

My comments were not rude. If they had been rude, I'm sure one of the many military veterans and/or family members here would have taken me to task for it.

No, you just got your knickers in a twist, as usual, determined to take everything I say out of context and in a negative fashion. And I have never in my life had someone say such a disgusting thing about me, so no, I will not let it go.

Every time I start to think you might just have a shred of decency in you, you prove me wrong.

And by the way, "oh you must have a boring life" is a really lame attempt at getting my goat. Surely you can do better than that.

Personally I think you are a decent person, but, you have some issues “looking in the mirror”.  You are so quick to point out the faults in others and the comments they make but you do not seem to read your own with the same critical eye.  I find that very odd for a person that edits for a living, or maybe that is the exact reason, I don’t know.   I find myself agreeing with you more than not, but you are way too serious and from my perspective, and mine only, there is a real lack of a sense of humor there.  You remind me of the up tight feminist we all knew in the late ‘70’s who was SO serious she never got the joke and was always offended.  Mind the only thing I know about you is what I read here and that is all you know about me so the datum point is very limited.
