Did you check out the map that shows the poll results state by state???  (G)  He tied with Brian Williams in ALASKA!!!!!

I noticed that none of the Fox anchors even made the poll.

I was surprised to see how high his standings were in States like Arkansas and Utah. Good on him!

um, I'm from Arkansas.

Admittedly, I don't fit the state norm profile, but we're not all hicks, hillbillies or rednecks.

Now Kansas, I'd be interested to see how they ranked.

whoops sorry - I certainly didn't mean hicks or hillbillys, I just thought that it was an area that had a more right-leaning mentality. :-)

No problem. Arkansas is actually less right-leaning than Oklahoma and Kansas, but tends to be moderate overall.  We produced both Bill Clinton and Mike Huckabee, so both sides are well-represented.  Current governor is a Democrat, and our legislature is majority Democrat.  3 of our 4 Congressmen are Democrats, and both our Senators are (and one is a woman!)

Of course, we (not me personally) passed a 1 man/1 woman marriage law, among other embarassments.

That is hilarious. But it could really be true!!

On NPR this aft there was a feature about The Onion being sold to a large Chinese conglomerate. Robert Segal (whom I adore!) was interviewing the editor who was spouting all this stuff about this company coming to the benevolent rescue of the Onion.   Swallowed, hook, line and sinker.  Listen to it for some really funny stuff.

Seriously.  Seriously?  I don't know whether I should laugh or cry.

Did you see Brian Williams with Stewart the other night?  They were a riot together!  The arm wrestling was hilarious.  Who knew the guy could be so funny and so quick?

I loved it too -- Brian Williams is always one of Jon Stewart's best guests, I think.  cheers, Bonnie

Ya'know, he might really be one of the best news anchors in the US.  He backed William Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard and one of the the uber neocons who helped get us into Iraq, into a corner last night.  Krstol actually admitted that the US government can run a first class health care system.  Watching Kristol try to find a way out of the box was priceless:

I think that behind his humor, secretly he is a good journalist.  He asks good questions, albeit in a humorous or satirical way, follows up, and gets to the heart of a matter quickly.

but isn't that the truth about all good humour - that within the humour is the germ of a serious question/thought/belief? He does it very well, indeed.
