I'm really disappointed

MadMom's picture

Willie Ray and I drove up to Raleigh today, north Raleigh, that is, to visit the new Costco.  Nice store.  Of course, I went because I was craving all the cookbooks that people have been finding.  Yech.  Virtually nothing.  They did have the good grace to shove the Sandra Lee books under the table, but on top it was various collections (Cooking Light, Southern Living, etc.) and a few of Giada's books.  No Chocolate mag by Taunton, no cookbooks I had been craving, nothing.  I'm ill.  Of course, we still managed to spend over $425, but think how much more I could have spent if they had been properly stocked!

Maybe you should give them one more chance...
I picked up the new Barefoot Contessa over the weekend, and they had Dorie Greenspan and The Silver Spoon. I know inventory varies, but randomly I was in a Costco in Yonkers, NY and in Delware in a week's span, and both stores had them.
Sadly, no Taunton Chocolate issue in either store.

they had the BF and Silver Spoon as well just a few days before. They must have been mobbed on Friday and Saturday. Not an unusual circumstance for Cost Co. :-)

I did find the FC Chocolate there 2-3 weeks ago, and they seemed to have several copies in the magazine section.

To be honest, MM, I reserve my Sam's Club and/or Costco cookbook purchases for any "tomes" that might be newly released and sold at deep discounts.  For the really good stuff I simply must have in hand now, I go to either Waldenbooks, B&N or Borders (and yes, I always have coffee).

Well, since I still have boxes of cookbooks I haven't unpacked, can't really say I must have anything...but it's always nice to be enabled, and Costco discounts usually enable me nicely.
