I guess we're back!

Gretchen's picture

Well, didn't even have to register since I use one of the other forums on this server, I guess.  This is a test.

Hi Gretchen,

It's me, EM.  :-)

Oh, Geez, I better start a list.  I can never keep up with new names.

There is absolutely no good reason anyone should HAVE to put up with new names.  Our names and e-mail addresses should have been noted, then entered before this site went online.  I like my identity (not the costume I'm wearing right now) and I don't use any other name online.

Chiffonade

(And what's with this skipping 2 lines every time you return???????)

Chiff -

If you hold the shift key when you hit the return (a soft return) it will single space.

So it won't let you use Chiff as a nickname, even?!

Chiffie, please change your name back by clicking on the red MYForums
button in the upper right hand corner. From there you can scroll down and change your nickname back to Chiffonade or Chiffie or Chiffonade Chef or whatever. Thanks! Zombie does not fit you right. LOL

Tracy K here.  Just making a point.

Go to "My Forums," then "Preferences," and down to "Nickname" and change your name to whatever you like. :-)

I'll go change back now. :-)

I guess this is as good a place as any to confess that I don't have a clue about how to just post something...without specifically replying to anybody.  Is that possible?  I guess you have to start out replying, then change it to ALL - is that the correct way?

But, now that you mention that "we're back"...where is Mean Chef?

Surely he isn't wasting his time working when he could be here????

Can anyone figure out that I'm having fun playing with the fonts, colors, etc?

I've been playing in here for 4 hours now and I think I've figured out most of the features. However, I'm still lost. I keep feeling like I'm missing something because I've read everything, so nothing is showing in the topics on the left. I really hate frames.

(I've been having fun playing with the features all day though. I haven't got a thing done at work today.)

Hi Rea! I just want to get back to baking! There may never be time again, if I don't figure out this stuff soon. (And to think, I thought maybe this would be better than the old format, since I never completely figured that one out. sheesh!)

On the bread topic....I'm having pretty good luck with my sourdough loaves, finally, but I have some questions. When I can remember what they are, I'll post them. LOL!

You're lost! How would you like to be in your golden years and still trying to find the #!%6*8*^ sandbox?

Where is the sanbox???

Wolvie's picture

when you first sign on in Cooks Talk, "the Sandbox" shows up on the far right hand side, just below the site choices at the top. At least, that's where it is on my screen.

To get to the sandbox: Hit Start button on the upper left of your screen. This will open a new screen and there is a link to the sandbox on the upper right of the screen.

Uh, oh--hitting the start button takes me back to the Taunton home page from which I could not get here.  Whassup?   It was all fine for me this morning.

Charlotte, the sandbox only showed up when I first logged on. I don't know where it went.

I don't feel quite so inadequate if you are lost also. What are all the little icons, •)),the star, the paper clip and something that looks like a thumbs up showing up in front of and behind the messages? I am trying to hang in until I learn this, but I want the threads back with the red "new" flags.

I'm with Dixie - I want the red "new message" tags back. They made it so much easier to figure out which posts I hadn't read yet.

So the unread tags just stay until the poerson they are adressed to has read them? Creepy. Why would I care to know this? Can't it be disabled?

CM & Dixie,

You can select how messages appear under the Show Discussions… box on the upper left.  Select with Unread Msgs from the pull down.  RR

CookiM0nster's picture

I already have it selected. What I'm wishing for is a little marker that tells me "start reading from here." I'm spoiled and lazy, I know.

I don't see a show discussions box in the upper left (it that is what you said). See, I cannot even see what I am replying to. I am just replying to cyberspace.

Dixie, you don't have a drop-down list from which to choose All Messages or All Unread (or whatever the options are)?
