Since my newfound beloved Panthers sucked so badly in the playoffs, I have become a Steelers fan, in honor of my good friend Jillsifer and her son.  At this point, it looks like they're moving on to the AFC championships, so guess I'm not totally the kiss of death!

Edited because I apparently don't know the difference between the NFC and the AFC!

Yes, GO STEELERS!

I will be taking a trip from North Carolina to Pittsburgh to see the AFC Championship game next week. Should be a very good defensive football game. There is no fine cooking in Heinz Field, but next week it will do just fine.

Did you see the snow during today's game?  People must really be die hard fans to sit there when it's that cold.  Me, I'd rather watch it on TV and drink a glass or two of wine, but then I'm an old chicken.

Edited to add, where are you in North Carolina?  There are quite a few of us CTers from there.  Fill out your profile!

You would make a great 49ers fan (wine and brie crowd). We haven't been to the playoffs this century though.

Remember, I used to be a Cowboys fan, and the 49ers were even worse than the Redskins, LOL.

We had some glory days, but they were long ago. This season ended on more of an up note, but our QB is mediocre on his good days. Maybe next year ...

It's really funny to see teams have their ups and downs.  I can remember when the Cowboys were virtually unstoppable, but also have memories of the Owen Seasons (you know 0-1, 0-2, 0-3, etc.)

That man is a cancer on any team he ends up on, which is too bad because he has talent. But he's a drama queen.

Now that he's not on the Eagles anymore I might cheer for them. I am an NFC gal.

I live in the Greensboro area. Originally, I am from Maryland and grew up a Steeler fan.

How do I add information about myself, such as where I live? I went to "Update Profile", but that just had information for my e-mail, password, and security question. Did I miss something?

Do you live in North Carolina?

Yes, I live in Southern Pines.  Gretchen is in Charlotte.  ICDOCEAN is somewhere near the beach, but is moving.  Wolvie lives near Raleigh, but was moving somewhere.  Probably more that we don't know of.

I don't know why Update Profile can't be used to update your profile, but it can't, as you found out.  Click on your name in any post, and you will see the option to "change profile".  Click on that, and enter as much as you feel comfortable posting.  Some people post their city, others their state, some just want to put in a region.  I figure there surely is more than one Mad Mother in Southern Pines, LOL.

HEY Geoff, are you all coming back this way this spring.  It ain't far off.  I really recommend either MadMom's area or the beach for your golf outing.

I second that motion!  Besides, if he plays golf here, he and Phyl have a place to stay, and although the service is lousy, you can't beat the price!

It really is true. I tried to tell him that last year. They would have had the same or better weather in Southern Pines. But they had a good time, as did we.

They ought to look into ____Rader's golf school--the  woman pro/teacher at Whispering Pines. She is really good;

There is no fine cooking in Heinz Field,

But who could fail to fall victim to the charms of those WONDERFUL signs at the concession stands that say "Don't forget your Heinz condiments"? (I love them even though I really, REALLY hate ketchup.)

VERY happy about the results of today's game. Slightly worried about the Ravens, but I heard that someone has the Stillers as a five-point favorite for next week.

I thought of you when they panned the audience and someone was holding up a sign saying "California Backs Steelers" (the game was shown on CBS.)  I almost ran the picture back to see if it was you and G.  Then I realized that if you had gotten this close and hadn't called, I would have to hunt you down and do horrible things to you, so decided to leave well enough alone.

Can you keep a secret????????????   The first 20 years of my life I lived in Steeler country and the remaining here in a suburb of Phila.

If it turns out to be an all Penna....Super Bowl, I will be rooting for the Steelers.

Once a Steelers fan, always a Steelers fan!! Are there any other teams that can ask for more crowd noise and get it while on the road??? There are Terrible Towels waving in every stadium where the Steelers play.

Yes, and what happened to the "All New York" Superbowl? They got the right geographical area, but were a state off! Go Steelers!!

For those of you (lucky bums!) going to Heinz Field Sunday, my recommendation is a Primatni Brothers sandwich--coleslaw and real fries right on the sandwich!! It doesn't get any better than that!

Oh, I'd killlllllll to be in Primanti Brothers right now, with my son, munching on one and admiring that mural on the wall . . .

When I was in Art School, I worked in a little flower shop that was in the same block.

it's jsut a big sandwich with fries and coleslaw on the sandwich. my favorites were the cheesesteak and the italian hot sausage.

Primanti's now has other locations, including at PNC Park and, I believe, Heinz Field (I've only been to Heinz Field once, and got there late, so we ate at the nearest food place). I always have a sandwich when we go to Pirates games (actually, the Pirates are do bad, I pretty much go just for the sandwiches!).

KitchenWitch's picture

they even have locations in Florida! I would go to the one in the Strip, jsut for nostalgia purposes, and to see if the flower shop I worked at (Klein's) is still there. I loved working there.

There was a special on Food network maybe that featured sandwiches across the country...that was one of them!

I wish that I could find some of the recipes they featured, but I can't even find the show that I was watching.

Yes, I saw that. I was stuck in a hotel room in Houston, drooling.

It had a major impact on a boring snow day in Idaho...DH was blown away by some of the sandwiches.  I would love to see the show again or at least a line-up of featured sandwiches.

The h*ll of it is that there were tickets available up until the last minute. Airfare and hotel money . . . well, not so much. But my season-ticket-holding cousins were there, so at least there was Gillen "blood" at Heinz field. And I'll guarantee you that my dad was looking down on dem Stillers with great pride and enthusiasm!
