Happy Birthday Rhea!  I have to warn you, I broke a rib & my wrist celebrating my 40th (trying to jump over a limbo bar).  It was 40-denial.

Forty is not that bad - you will get used to it by the time you are 46...

eeek!!!......it just feels weird....What really kind of freaks me out is that if I had married the fiance all those years back I would probably have a teenager now.....yikes......most of my friends are all married with kids and such....I always say that someone knocked down the sign meant for me , at the fork in the road,...and I ended up just "winging it"...:)

LOL!  Mom said exactly the same thing to me when I reported the mishap to her.   I DID try to go under the thing (unsuccessfully).  Then I thought gee, maybe I could jump over.  After I came to my senses, I remembered that while I had successfully long jumped that distance in my youth, I'd never attempted a high jump like that.

Oh GOD!!!

I just woke up this morning thinking to myself how wonderful it felt to turn 30,....and then I saw that big number 4- infront of that 0................I almost threw up...LOL!!!! Wasn't it just yesterday that I was sitting with my girlfriends at my house talking about the latest, and greatest new guy in school?? What happened to the days when the words "your payment is due..." only applied to my parents???? Homemade meals, clean laundry, and an ALLOWANCE!!!

Do I officially have to start acting like an adult now?......tell me it isn't so...pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease....

You guys are just the BEST!!! Waking up this morning to all your wishes has just started my day( and I took it off )- with a wonderful smile!!!! Many, many thanks to you all....sniff, sniff....

I hope today I won't break anything...already this past week I have managed to fall off a stool, bruise my leg twice, trip over my own feet, walk into a desk-bruise my thigh, and have recovered from a New Year's hangover...( I couldn't possibly have drank that WHOLE bottle)??? LOL

It feels abit weird turning  40.....hard not to think that if I halved that number I would be just starting a job that would, years later, almost give me a nervous breakdown..eek, was with my first true love(who ended up marrying someone else and getting really ugly and fat)-so my friends have told me...LOL. That was the age when I thought I looked pretty darn good...

Today, I am at a new job within the same company, getting the respect I deserve. I have a great guy that loves me and I have years of wisdom that do indeed, on many occasions remind me that all those things my Mom said years ago in the form of advice are true(thanks Mom!).  Today I think I look better!!!!

It's been a tough year for me which is why I have been a bit of a ghost here...my Aunt has battled breast cancer, and is thankfully(!!!!) doing great. A dear friend of mine just lost her husband over the holidays. A wonderful family that I met a few years ago and have spent the past few New Year's with, discovered this past summer that the husband has lung cancer....many fingers are crossed for them...

Today was the first time in almost half my life that I have woken up on my birthday beside a man who loves me...it was odd...hehehe....I had heard a few things go bump in the middle of the night...he was hanging balloons and streamers. which his two felines are still trying to calculate just how to claw their way into them...hehehe. Maybe some people out and about, tire of those little things that people do for you, but for me, it was just so sweet.

Many years ago I was dating and engaged to one of the many slugs that would slither my way....for Valentine's day his idea of a romantic gift was a plastic miniature pen set with a miniature calculater?!?!?!?!?!?  To this day I still am not sure where that little voice was in his  head that would have said..."heelloooooooooooooooo-BAD GIFT IDEA FOR GIRLFRIEND!!!!" LOL

So this morning I woke up to a bag of treats that included two cards-cause he just thought I would like two! Chocolate....yuuummy.....and some gel insoles for my aching and battered feet(AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-GOOOOOD gift idea!!!!)

And the BEST was a box that held,...WHAT ELSE??? A cookbook( now is that a great guy or what????? When I told my Mom about my new gem, she replied in Yiddish...Oh Vey, Nuchamel...!!!" Translation ..OY Vey.....once again????? LOL!!!!!

Titled Apples for Jam, by Tessa Kiros-the author of two other books- Twelve and Falling Cloudberries. I spotted this new book a few weeks ago and he watched me drool like an hawk over a carcass at the display table it was on at the local bookstore.  Her books are both beautiful to look at and a pleasure to cook from!!!

My parents are cooking me dinner this weekend and my Aunt and Uncle  are coming in to see me, before they fly down to their home in Costa Rica. My brithday cake will be very special....my little nephew is baking it for me....sniff, sniff....

My bones may ache and there may be a few too many veins on my legs,....but thank the Lord I don't have that insane pressure anymore to bare my midriff in public and wear jeans that were so tight I had to lay down and use a coat hanger to do them up !!! LOL

It's gonna be a great year!!!

Thanks to all of you for giving me a great morning smile today...xox!

and a happy one to you-yesterday!!!:)

edited to add...so here I am on my big day, it's 3:53 Toronto time and I am lounging in my PJ's....I was determined to just 'veg' today,....and boy is it decadent! Breakfast was special....a big scoop of Rocky Road Ice cream-right out of the tub-after all, why make extra dishes...???LOL Hand for of corn chips and of course it was them time for something healthy...a diet coke!!!

Aaaah, the life of the birthday girl...hahaha...now I just have to sit on my tush and wait to see what my cutie is cooking for my dinner....what a tiring day! oh, and the cats?

They have managed to tear apart most of the discarded wrap-after dragging it from the garbage, pulled apart the ribbon and dragged down the streamers from the ceiling....now if only I was THAT flexible...LOL!!!!

Just seems weird to be 40....the other  day, two women that have worked with me for a while asked if I was turning 28??? I almost choked on the candy in my mouth....LOL....Guess I am just well preserved like a good jar of pickles...hehehe... all those years in the cosmetic biz sure have helped-that is for sure!

So-tell me how your spent YOUR special day????? :)
