Hartelijk gefeliciteerd!

Do you have an open house on your birthday? My parents (both Dutch) tell me that is standard--the birthday person hosts an open house that can last all day... Sounds like fun!

thanks very much!! So unexpected!  Yes, the Dutch tradition is that you stay at home for your birthday and receive loads of phone calls and visitors.  Remaining an American girl at heart, I do not do this, hee hee.  We're going out to a very nice lunch today and will enjoy what promises to be a day with actually nice weather!  perfect!  cheers, Bonnie
