My cookie press doesn't get much use. Can you suggest a recipe? It doesn't have to be a sweet cookie. Thanks!
Janet

Traditional Scottish (post #70731, reply #1 of 4)
Traditional Scottish shortbread is great with a cookie press.
1 lb. butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 5 cups pastry flour.
Knead together until very smooth. Bake at 325 until pale golden - about l5 minutes.

Interesting that you ask for (post #70731, reply #3 of 4)
Interesting that you ask for a recipe and then say it isn't 'real" Shortbread can come in all kinds, including
brown sugar. I kept my thoughts to myself about the use of a cookie press when this was first posted. It is a useless or at the very least, a utensil that is very demanding and not very rewarding. But have a good time.

I don't recall saying that Doph's recipe wasn't real or authentic. It was new to me, and that was what I was hoping to get.
Cookie presses may not be a necessity; you can make drop cookies out of spritz dough if you don't care what it looks like. But I don't consider presses, cookie cutters, decorating tools, etc., to be useless. Presentation has always seemed to me to be a legitimate aspect of cooking.
