my moms birthday is this weekend and i want to bake her a yummy cake. do you have a good recipe for a cake like that:

I'm not the baker of the group here so hopefully one of them will chime in with a T&T recipe for you. I did manage to make the Irish Whiskey cake from the past December issue and it came out great, so I can only vouch for that successful recipe. I also might mention that I made it in the 9" pan size and a smaller 6" version (remaining batter made a few cupcakes).

Golden Orange Cake Using Basic Cake Mix (post #71770, reply #3 of 4)
RECIPE
3 c Basic Cake Mix
1 1/4 c Buttermilk
3/4 c Sugar
1 t Baking soda
3 tb Butter or margarine*
3 Eggs
1 tb Grated orange peel
1 t Vanilla
2/3 c Golden raisins -- cut up
1/3 c Walnuts -- chopped
1 Orange Glaze (Follows)
*Softened Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour 9-cup bundt cake pan or baking pan, l3x9x2 inches.
Beat Cake Mix, buttermilk, sugar, baking soda, butter, eggs, orange peel and vanilla in large mixer bowl an low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 3O seconds. Beat on medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 4 minutes. Beat in raisins and walnuts. Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 50 to 55 minutes. Remove from pan; cool. Drizzle with
glaze. ORANGE GLAZE Mix 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted, I cup pow- dered sugar and 2 teaspoons grated orange peel. Stir in I to 2 tablespoons orange juice until of desired consistency.

Hope this isn't too late but Cafe Latte's Turtle Cake is out of this world!! Just do a google search! Have made this many times and is my son's requested birthday cake! Enjoy anytime but your mom will love it. I really don't like carmel but with this cake the more the better!
