Hello, I'm new here...Could someone please help. I"m looking for a recipe from my childhood (I'm 54). Its called Italian Hunters Stew. The recipes I have found online just don't sound right. It had beef chunks, I'm guessing chuck roast, stovepipe pasta, carrots, and it was red so I'm guessing tomato product(s) of some sort. I would have SWORE  it was in one of the three vintage (YEESH I FEEL OLD!!) cookbooks I ordered from an online dealer, I thought it was in one of the Better Homes & Gardens series, but... got them today, and NO LUCK!!   DRAT!!!!  iF ANYONE "OUT THERE" CAN HELP, YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW GRATEFUL I'LL BE....

Hunter's stew (post #71724, reply #1 of 5)

Hey, my family is Polish so our hunter's stew is a bit different (pork and sauerkraut), but ICDOCEAN is our resident Italian cook-- I hope she'll be along soon to help you out!

Cheers, Jen

Maybe a basis to start tweaking?

A recipe that might help (post #71724, reply #2 of 5)

I didn't find a Hunter's Stew on our site, but I did find Susie Middleton's Hunter's-Style Baised Short Ribs. Not a stew, certainly, but the ingredients list may help jog your memory or help you to recreate your childhood recipe if you end up having to improvise.

Good luck,
