Limited Website Access
Hi All,
I am posting a complaint about the Fine Cooking Website. I have been a loyal and avid FC reader for many years. I have subscribed for the past four or five years to the magazine, I buy all of the special issues and many of the book that Taunton puts out. I have also regularly used the website as a resource, but I have resisted paying for a subscription to the website as well as the magazine. I love this magazine, and while it is my favorite cooking publication, it is also by far the most expensive. I have never been able to justify ALSO paying to have access to all of the information on the website. Today, when I went to look up on of my favorite recipes, I was dismayed to find that they have put up a box which conveniently hides the issue number. I find this cheap and greedy and feel it shows a total disregard for Fine Cooking Subscribers. This is the ONLY cooking publication that I know of that does such a thing!
If I can't have convenient access to information about past issues, I don't know how much longer I'll be able to justify my subscription.
Is there anyone out there who feels like I do, or am I alone in these frustrations?

Hi JanaBerry, Thanks for
Hi JanaBerry,
Thanks for pointing this out; we at Taunton also use these preview pages to look up issue number, so I understand your frustration! Covering up the issue and page number with the new CooksClub sign-up box is completely unintentional. We will be fixing the issue by next week. I apologize for the inconvenience in the meantime.

Just want to report back that
Just want to report back that this bug has been fixed. The sign up/login box now floats over the recipe or article preview page, so to look up the issue or page number, you just have to scroll around it.

Thanks Sarah! Are you going
Thanks Sarah! Are you going to be the point of contact from now on regarding the changes?
But, but, it's SUPPOSED to taste like that!
Hi Adele, Robyn and I both
Hi Adele,
Robyn and I both work on the site together. She's been much more hands-on on the forum changeover than I have--trust me when I say I don't have any better answers for you than she does! But this was something that we were able to fix fairly quickly so I jumped in with the reply here. Please do hang in with the forums. I know the changes are slow in coming and I apologize for that.
best,
Sarah
I don't mind paying for
I don't mind paying for access to the site as well as the magazine (i just bought a three year subscription)because my wife and I LOVE Fine Cooking, but I do have issues with the site. It's tough to find things using the search. I like to try to find recipes from back issues on line in order to avoid having to look through every magazine because I can't remember where the recipe was. But the search is practically useless for that purpose. I already posted a question about an index of back issues so hopefully there is one.
Anyway, we've ditched almost all the other cooking magazines (we still love Chili Pepper magazine) in favor of FC. It is simply the best (despite the clumsy web site).
