Are We Treading Water?

Glenys's picture

I haven't seen much activity here, at least new topics of interest that inspire a post. I've done an actual Login, so I think I'm on board. Is the site quiet with the new look? It would surprise me that a mere change in style would keep inquiring minds away.

I think our heads are under water -- coming up gasping now and then, but we need a lifeline soon. We'll see what next weeks lifeguard meeting brings about -- hoping for CPR.

The Save button is taking on a whole new meaning. :/

Glenys, do you know about the alternative site that Madmom set up? It's at http://forums.delphiforums.com/cooks1/messages and seems to be more lively than this site--at least until Taunton repairs the damages.

I came here today as usual, and was pretty surprised to see that the latest message in Cooking Discussions was 7 hours old, and the second earliest was 1 day and 12 hours old

this, two weeks before Christmas! Very sad.

I am not leaving because I am stubborn like hell, but of course I'll be checking both forums until some magical solution happens, one way or another.

I'm with you, Sally. I will check both forums, but as you point out, it's clear that this site is not getting the traffic it was before the change. I'm about as stubborn as they come, I suppose, and I will hope for the best!

And you cna't trust the times posted, or the new posts. It isn't correct in most cases.

Ha... I suspected that, but thought that maybe my memory is failing, and since I only read stuff last Sunday, I could not be totally sure.

so sad! I have hope that they will realize the drop in traffic and take all possible changes very seriously.

Poor Robyn, what a difficult job she's got

Some of my friends alerted me (post #68246, reply #9 of 13)

Some of my friends alerted me to the changes to CT. Among them is that you no longer have to sign in to read the forum, so this week I’m looking at this site for the first time in almost a year.

Quite frankly, I like everything about the change. It is easier to read and it looks a lot more fresh and contemporary than the Delphi forums. I like all the white space and it seems just as easy to navigate. I really like that read recent posts feature.

Good job, Robyn!

You may have it all to yourself. Insert wry smile.

As I said after your other post, glad you could be enticed back after your self imposed exile, and glad you like it so well. We all "want" to come back if a couple of things can be restored--it isn't the whole shootin' match we're asking for--just functionality and ease. If we do come back, maybe you'll stick around. I guess that remains to be seen. Or maybe, as Jean says, you (and the new folks you say will come) may have it all to yourselves. As you say, that will be fine. You'll be a good resource for them.

Hey Glenys! I haven't been (post #68246, reply #13 of 13)

Hey Glenys! I haven't been on because this is my last weekend for baking. Everything is done (except for the cookies for next Monday for work party thing). The UPS box for home is filled with goodies for my parents, and the construction guys have painted paper bags with treats in them. Dropped everything off this afternoon.

I have a full sink of dishes and no desire to do them. The floor is sticky and I can see pieces of chopped cranberries contributing to the stickiness. Am I doing anything about it? LOL.

But, but, it's SUPPOSED to taste like that!
