Just want to add another plea that those who are definitely coming should try to book a room quickly while Priceline is giving us $100/nt at the Omni Shoreham...it would be great if everyone can be together there.  If anyone needs any information, post here or email me; if anyone from out of the country needs help in booking, let me know ASAP.

Edited to say that if you're from out of the country and you want me to book your room, please give me the full name you want me to reserve the room for, plus any preferences you might have (smoking, nonsmoking, two queen beds, one king bed, etc.) so I can contact the hotel after the reservations are made and get that set up.

Things are going to get a lot worse before they get worse.

I thought Meanie was coming, or trying to come?

MM- Thanks for the heads up to call the hotel for preferences.   Yet another Duh!

But, but, it's SUPPOSED to taste like that!

And - Mean can't come this year, Adele.

CM - since you are coming, I'll bring an extra bag for you to take home with clothes and shoes for Berend.

Oh goodie!

And I'll have some for KW for little Billy too.

And don't forget the space needed for the down snowsuit. Think big ;-)

I'll play dumb and bring a can or two of Leberwurst (canned) for your DH if he wants some. Worst case - the customs guys toss it...

Excellent. I'll pass on Berend's old snowsuit to KW, and collect a new one from you!

I know for entry into Canada as long as the container has an ingredients label and country of origin listed it's OK, but I've lost track of teh US laws. DH will be ecstatic.

Take the down snow suit and put it in a plastic ZipLoc.  Push down and push the air out and compress that sucker.

Oh, I know about that trick. But I won't be doing it this time. I will travel with the largest suitcase I own - I plan on doing some serious shopping in DC. And I need to fill it with stuff on the way over, too, to justify taking the monster suitcase (DH will question it...)

I should have assumed as much.  ;o)
Curious, what kinds of things do you want from the US?  Whenever I return from Europe I despair when I go to the supermarket and see the overabundance of "stuff"--like 75 kinds of cereal with another on the way--with questionable quality.

As far as groceries, brown sugar and chiles are on my list, since both are either hard to find or terribly expensive, sometimes both.

What I really need are clothes, however, both for me and the kids. And maybe a pair of shoes - or two. In the States I seem to have more luck finding deals and/or sales than here.

I hate those huge supermarkets here, too. Too many, poor choices. The ones that just opened here a year ago has at least 3 aisles of powder for soups, sauces, premade junk... Shudder.

So you are not back at home? yet? Still at your Mom's house? Sorry.

I emailed you yesterday, but my on-line time is limited since we are having such thunderstorms everyday and my power is regularly going out in my house.  I will catch up with you at some point.

Absolutely no snakes.

I thought I saw one this morning in one flower bed, but cannot be sure. I am just going to give it a wide bearth and hope it gets gone. I hate snakes.

Ewwwww!  I like good snakes, but can't stand the poisonous ones like copperheads, water moccasins, etc.

My MIL has one hanging out near her water faucet, but we can't seem to draw it out when we have a handy weapon.

With her altheimzer's (not spelled right, I know), we're worried she'll forget it's there, so we've posted several notes throughout her house to remind her.

Any tips on getting a snake to show itself when YOU want it to?

Yeah, when you least expect it.

Like when I was leaving home.

Vaccumed the house, (last thing I do)...

There was a towel on the floor outside the shower, I turned to pick the towel up...only to find a 16" snake poised to strike at me....

(You know, it's difficult to use a mouse when you're flinching.)

OMG.  What did you do?  What kind of snake was it.  And, it was IN YOUR HOUSE?  And in the bathroom?  Oh, my.  That's where one is the most vulnerable!  After all, I rarely wear heavy boots in the bathroom.

I was in shock..I just stood there, for I don't know how long staring at him. Like am I really seeing this? Don't know where he came from.

Threw another towel over him, rolled him up and threw him outside. Not a brave as Dixie though....she wrangled one herself.

I will be there with my sister. Tracy knows us. :-) I have to figure out these boards to get the hotel. Or is there no hotel picked? It's confusing over here.

Thank you! Is everyone staying there? Not that I know anyone here... haha.... but I'll book it I guess.

Tracy... I think Jane is coming too. I didn't announce anything on Zaar. I just emailed Jane. TT and Jelisa live there... so I'm sure they will show up at some point. Although TT has been MIA for a while. We sent her some KY jelly in the mail as punishment. :-)
