Meaniefest - need details??

MEANCHEF's picture

Need details of arrival and departue times and where you are staying:

I have no info for Michael, Pomona, Li, Rhea g + 2, Sally & Phil

And sketchy info for some of the rest of you.

I am trying to firm up reservation for thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  At some point lack of information may result in a meal or two by yourself.

Please check http://forums.prospero.com/tp-cookstalk/messages?msg=16047.1.  I am updating as I get information.

Li has to ask Taunton if she can come.  We need to get on her to do it this week, because she's being slow.  Everyone, no matter when you see Li post, remind her to go ask her bosses about Meafest!  (G)

Li, you've got a potential roommate if you come...

Arrive at SEA at 11:12a Thursday October 2
Depart 10:20a  Thursday October 9
American Airlines

Haven't booked a hotel yet, as I don't know if MM still wants to drive to BC. Regardless, i'll still be in the area for a whole week.

Booking flights online at 4am is fun...

Dammit!  We should have booked our flights together and traveled together, Michael!  Who did you book your flights through?  Which Airline are you coming in on?  Even if we can't fly together, I arrive only 30 minutes before you.  Maybe I can meet your plane, or meet you somewhere at SEATAC and we can grab a cab together.  I think Tracy comes in around that time, too.  Maybe we can all meet up and travel in to town together.

Don't waste money on a cab - Grayline of Seattle will take you to your hotel round trip for $14. Nice big comfy buses. they have two kiosks outside baggage claim at SEATAC and run every 30 minutes. And they go to all the major downtown hotels.

Of course if there are three of you you could go for the luxury of a limousine, we used Blackstone Limo and it was $50. Thoroughly recommended for arriving in style!

Sounds great, ashley!  I also recommend the cab...Tracy and I shared one last year, and it ended up costing about the same as the bus, plus service right to the door.

Michael, I am still planning on driving up to BC...thought I would pick up a car on the 6th (Monday) and drive up to Vancouver, spend a few days, then fly home that weekend.  I'm flexible, so can do whatever sounds good to you.  I have absolutely got to make plane reservations.

I booked my flight through Orbitz----- flying American Airlines. Cab, bus, or limo...doesn't matter to me, though Tracy doesn't get in until around 1.30.

I'm about to bid on a hotel room on priceline. Will keep all updated.

Update! I'm at the Seattle Sheraton Hotel and Tower, Thursday through Monday. $110 through Priceline. Is that where everyone else is?

I guess i'm coming to MF2 after all... and I can't wait to see all of you M-F'ers.

Okay - I'll e-mail you.  I'm using a different airline, but since we are coming in within 20 minutes of each other, and staying in the same hotel, we should meet and take a cab together, if you like.  Maybe I'll even buy you a drink in the hotel bar while we wait for everyone else to arrive.

Expect an e-mail this evening.

Thank you for lighting that fire under me:

Arrive Thursday around 3:30pm, leave Sunday at noon. Hope to room with Assibams, but if not, I'll be crashing with family. Count me in for supper Thursday on through to Saturday dinner.

Will be making a side trip to the Magic Mouse (a great toy store) for anyone interested in joining me. Last time there I got DD a great Roald Dahl cookbook.

The hammer/icon is there in all your posts, of course, but when it floats above Mean Chef, it is in the exact location to look like it's gonna smack him one.... :-)

LOL. Just to be sure he behaves, I'll bring DH's gavel to Seattle. It's extremely worn in.

MadMom, Biscuit, I am getting on the stick about this. I should have an answer soon. Thanks for the prodding. (Note to Mark: Can I turn that gavel icon into an electric cattle prod?)

We checked out that spot last time we were down. We'll be kitty-corner across the street at the W unless there's a need to be somewhere else.

If 747 becomes our "spot", staying upstairs may be an option.

Okay, I finally broke down and made reservations, trying to get as close as possible to Michael's schedule.  I'll be arriving in Seattle at 10:47 a.m. on October 3.  Biscuit, if you and Michael are getting there about that time, want to share a cab or something?  Anyone else?

Michael - you realize that if we go to BC, we'll need to leave at dawn on Thursday to make it back to Seattle in time for your return flight.  I could not find anything near your time, but booked the closest thing to it, which leaves at 1:27 p.m. on October 9.  I can drop you off as soon as we get to the airport, then go turn in the rental car, etc., and won't have toooooo much time to kill before my flight leaves.

Edited to say that now I realize Biscuit and Michael are coming in on Thursday, October 2, and I'm not coming in until Friday.  Anyone coming in about that time on Friday?  RA?  Jill?  I think I'm the only person not arriving until Friday...poo.

Now we just have to work out what to pack -- if I pack the rain gear, it will be sunny. If I don't, expect hurricane force winds and rain.

And last time I was in Seattle, in May, I wore spring suits and looked terribly out of place. Now know to only wear black downtown.

My philosophy is that probably no matter what I pack, it will be wrong, so why sweat it?  Just relax, throw in comfortable things, and hope for the best!
