We have settled on Oct 12-14. That was fairly easy. Now on to the matter of accommodations. This will be a bit more difficult to resolve since it is obvious we have varying needs, wants, budgets etc.

See next post.

Hey kiddo, where in Jersey? I assume you mean NJ not the tax haven in the Channel??? Oui? I'd like to hop on a plane to Newark right now and visit my pal, shop and eat.

Oui - unfortunately!

Really - they actually have decent places to eat?? To tell you the truth, I have no idea where in NJ our office is. Will let you know though so you can recommend anything in the area.

Chicago was awesome - oh the shopping - four more pairs of shoes!!

MC's right, it's really beautiful in much of the state. Actually a little shopping hint, anything you see in the big retailers you should buy in NJ as opposed to NYC and avoid the higher taxes. Let me know where you're going and I'll see what I can find out about the food!
My friend works about a mile from where she was born and raised. The company actually has an agent in Delta.

Tracey
If your office is anywhere near Whitehouse Station, there are two superb restaurants. Both are on Rte 22. One is the Ryland Inn
( eclectic ) and the other is Ixora ( Japanese-French ) If you want to go shopping try the Short Hills Mall and, while you're there, grab lunch or dinner at the 5 star restaurant in the Hilton. If you are bargain hunting, try the Jersey Gardens Mall ( sorry Glenys--the missing " New " irritates me too ) in Elizabeth right next to Newark
Airport.
Enjoy your visit!

Hi, Tracey
All the places I mentioned are within a half hour's drive from Edison. If you're going to have a working lunch, try Jack Cooper's Celebrity Deli on Amboy Avenue in Edison. It's in a slightly seedy strip mall but the corned beef and pastrami are super.
Have fun!

Went to Short Hills Mall in June, I think. It's the one with Macy's, Nordie's and Bloomies or Saks right? Has a Crate and Barrel? Shoes were on sale, it was grand.
I'll check out Edison.

Seems like it when you're on those endless freeways going such short distances.

Yes, Glenys
And Neiman-Marcus, Chanel, Georg Jensen, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany.
Nordies has great shoes and Neiman's has wonderful Manolo Blahniks.
I sob a lot when I go there since my shoes of choice are now Easy Spirits and Keds!

My friends live in Bergen County and we have friends that lived in Hoboken for years but just moved to Secaucus. I've spent a lot of time in NJ considering I've always lived in the West! I put my foot down on July and August however.
