Who is up for a get-together at Copia in Napa? Karen, I just looked at the Friday lunches--3 wines? And then the drive home?

I have that whole job thing so I'm out. :) But I had to post because I was up there today, we went to Oxbow Market and had a really tasty lunch at Pica Pica! Then I was too full to have ice cream. Or a cookie. Or chocolates...

Oh Boo! The Job--always getting in the way of fun.
Sounds like you had fun today though. What did you eat at Pica Pica?
Some of everything! I'm still full. A couple of the arepas - chicken salad with avocado was delicious, but the pork special was bland. The cachapa was terrific, probably the favorite. We had it with beef but I think just cheese inside would be great. They aren't serving maize-wiches right now, which was a bummer. Yucca fries were good too.

would it help if I were to devise a meeting of some sort?
Ha! Theoretically I can get away with playing hooky anytime. Not only is my manager based in Seattle, but he encourages stuff like that. I just can't get away right now. It's crunch time!

Do you think you can make lunch the 27th at Eldorado Kitchen? 12:30ish.

Thanks for thinking of me! No, work is super crazy and I can't get away. It'll slow down... later in the fall. :) Have a great lunch!

Menu: COPIA Garden Heirloom Tomatoes with Tapenade Vinaigrette and Chevre * Provencal Braised Chicken with Green Olives, Riesling and Fresh Herbs, Buttered Noodles and Mache * Peach and Fig Galette with Caramel Ice Cream and Sel de Mer
This is the August menu. September isn't posted yet but I can try to find out what it is.

Shhhhhh, I could slip out any Friday except August 15th.
In August I could do the 8th or the 22nd.
I'm hard at work planning my next week's schedule...
Is the 8th a possibility for anyone besides Heather and myself?
Not me, sadly, the 29th is the only Friday I can do it in Aug. I'm already taking off Aug 4 and Aug 18-31 so can't add any more vacation days.
If we planned something other than a Friday (which I realize is the reason for the Copia plan) I could do Aug 25, 26, 27 or 28 too.
Friday the 29th would work for me. It is the Friday before Labor Day weekend, so traffic will be nasty, but other than that-sounds like a perfect time to slip out of work early and a very fun start to the long weekend.
So...would can make the 29th besides me and Kathy?
Karen, what days work best for you? My best days vary week by week.
We could just eat lunch there (or anywhere) and of course-SHOP.
Those weekdays work better for me too, and I might be able to do the 29th but won't know for a while. Anyone else up for a weekday and just a regular lunch at Copia or somewhere else. There is a farmers' market there on Tues. If you wanted to do dinner, I would think Ubuntu would be a good choice. It's on Main.
I just happened to think, carpooling with Karen wouldn't work because she would be going south afterwards.

The 8th isn't looking too good for me now. A couple of things have had to be pushed to the end of the week.
We'll get this planned eventually!

Lunch at Copia sounds great. I've been to Copia several times, usually for some meeting, but have never eaten at the restaurant there. Unfortunately, the dates mentioned don't work for me. The 22nd may work but I can't commit until the week of because of work issues.

Hi! I hope you are well. You pop into my mind often. Is it possible that we meant to do something in February and all these months have passed? We had too much going on and it still hasn't let up much. Now we should wait until a lull in work for you. Next Feb.?
I'll stay tuned to what you all can work out for a date for Copia or wherever and will hope I can make it. Maybe Karen and I could car pool and pick you up on the way. Finding a common day is the biggest problem. I wonder if lunch has to include the 3 wines. That does sound a bit much for midday when we have to drive. And then there is that Friday Napa traffic. It would be nice if you could do something before harvest.

This working for a living does get in the way of things that make life worth living. Another day during the week may work for me too. The later in the month the more iffy it gets work wise. November looks open.
Three wines at lunch! - not a problem for any self respecting Napa Valley resident.

"Three wines at lunch! - not a problem for any self respecting Napa Valley resident."
Ha! Not until CHP says "Tell it to the judge." ; )
Some crush in August likely? The weather has been some hot some cool so I've not a clue. Today I was on Lower Chiles Valley Road - lovely weather and dramatic scenery.
November looks good on my calendar too, at this point anyway. Sept. and Oct. you will be running on all cylinders. Maybe something should be penciled in and flexible?
Pencil is good. Weather has been so perfect the last few days. Perfect for the harvest too. Hope to see y'all in November.
How about the Friday before Thanksgiving-Friday, November 21?
Should be a nice quiet time to go to Napa....
In addition, let's try and do something in August, or September. Heather and I are both in a quiet time...

My best day is Not Monday. There are so many good places in the area..Ubunto among them. Michael Chiraello's place is opening in Yountville in September..the store is already open.
I'm a definite probably for November.

Chiarello's new place could be worth a trip. I loved eating at Tra Vigne when it first opened; it would interesting to see what he opens this time.
My schedule really varies. I teach on different days, and the schedule is set for the rest of the year. I usually have Wednesdays off, but IIRC, that is not a good day for Heather?

Wednesdays aren't good but if that's what works for everyone else I can shift some things around that week.

How about Tue Aug 26th?
That one doesn't work for me, I'm teaching all day.
OK, but maybe the 27th (Wed) or the 28 (Thur) might work
