Claremont trip

nutcakes's picture

Hi you So Cal-ers,  I am coming to Claremont on June 6 or 7 to pick my daughter up from school.  I have to pack her dorm up and check her out by June 8 at 1:30 pm.  I'm not sure how long I'm going to be around... at least 2 days.  I'll be staying with my Aunt.  So can we plan lunch or dinner?

Dang. I'm going to be really swamped as the Summer Solstice Faire is the 8th - it's one of two really big shows for me, and I'll be up to my armpits in the soap pot until then.

Boohoo, but where is the festival?  We might be game for visiting a fun fest.

ooo - it's in Long Beach - kinda far, but it runs until 5 or 6 pm.

email me off the board if you want more details. It's not a huge festival, but there's lots of really good vendors, if you have any disposable income. =)

my old dance troupe is performing, as well.

I could join you if there's a get-together. It would be the first time I'd have a chance to meet anyone except Ruth Ann . . . but would love to do it!

Which school does your daughter attend? I came within a hairsbreadth of going to Scripps.

Where do you live?

DD is in high school only.  She goes to Webb, it is boarding.  Some of the advanced teens do get to take college courses at the great places at hand.

I live in Westminster and work in Santa Ana and Ontario. Would love to see if we can arrange something.

nutcakes, when yo do find out your schedule, please let me know! I'd love to meet you (and perhaps your paleontologically inclined daughter, too), but it will be a tight squeeze. That weekend is a teaching weekend for me, and the Monday after that is set for some boring (but necessary) faculty meeting stuff. The best would be for lunch on the 6th. I understand that this may not work. A Friday lunch could also work out, but if you're staying past the 12th, I'm all free from then on until the weekend.

Nutcakes, Samchang,

I have no problem getting together any day of the week. Just let me know in advance so my DH can plan ahead and stay home to take care of the kids.

Eamil me so I can give you my phone number.

I am borrowing my sister's car, and just found out she is returning sooner than I thought.  I will leave the 6th or 7th (will confirm soon) and must return the morning of the 10th.  BOOHOO.  I guess that leaves you out Samchang, but for the others, we are open.  Only we need to be moving some stuff out Sat morning. Free Fri night and Sat afternoon/night.  Sunday is up in the air, breakfast can work;  but I was thinking, maybe it'll be nice to stay in Santa Barbara on the way back, eh?

Staying in Santa Barbara is never a bad idea. I love that town.

I am sorry for the late notice.  I am driving down tomorrow (FRI) morning so should get there early afternoon.  Afternoon and evening should be free, except I have to get DD a white dress.  DD is attending the graduation on Sat day, we are both free Sat evening.  Sun brunch would work.  I will probably leave SUN, possible MON.  I emailed my cel phone to Jill and KCB so give me a call.  Thanks hope to meet you both.  I see this won't work for samchang, likely, unless we can stop by SM on our way out of town.

Nutcakes,

I deleted your email. I didn't recognize the address and just deleted it. Please email me again, if you can.

That'd be great if you could pull it off! Too bad RuthAnn's busy, but between you, KCB, and little old me, I'm sure we could have a good time nonetheless.

Jillisifer (a new person?).

jill is my buddy from where I used to work - I told her about CooksTalk a couple years ago, and she lurked for the longest time until I boldfacedly (is that a word?) outted her. She posted on the "old" boards as jill mc***** her real life name.
