schnitzel: Chez Jacques

schnitzel's picture

I have always admired Jacques Pépin, he is my culinary hero.

His latest book is beautiful: Chez Jacques: Traditions and Rituals of a Cook, and it has an eclectic mix of recipes. I will focus on his cooking techniques, work through the book keeping in mind the seasons, and availability of ingredients.

This will be a fun journey.

Thanks, Marcia. No sushi, but DH can bring that home anytime he wants (always earning extra points for niceties). Tomorrow, it's Machaca Mexicana in the crockpot, pretty simple. And I'll make fresh tortillas (FC recipe), along with the usual taco-style fixings. DS #1 usually sups with us on Sundays and his 21st b-day is Wednesday. He also requested brownies for dessert. If I hated to cook, all this would be a bummer, but I really do love it.

Happy Mother's Day!

How did he grow up so fast? Good grief! 21!

Happy BD to DS #1 !

- and Machaca Mexicana - I remember having some preparation called Machaca whilst living in AZ and vacationing in Mexico back in the day - it was quite good. If you can post the recipe / prep you use, I would appreciate it. :-)

I'll see what I can do. This so-called recipe has morphed. Probably should start a new thread.

Your pictures look so tasty. I am making a trip back to Germany next August and can't wait to experience their cuisine again.

Thanks for the compliment. And lucky you going back to Germany. I'd love to go there someday.
