would anyone like to test a recipe?

evelyn's picture

for me? I want to enter a recipe for a recipe contest but one of the ingredients (key to this recipe I'm planning) just went out of season here this past week. Woe is me! I have made up the recipe anyway, without it, and I think it's great (within the confines of the contest) but I really need someone over in North America, where this ingredient is now in season, to make it up and give me their opinion??? It's a bit of a risk for one of you, but it could be fun, too, and you'd be contributing your 2 cents. :-) It would have to be tried over the next couple of days, and it's a salad. :-)

Any takers?

I would LOVE to be a tester of one of your recipes--but I won't be home to cook until Tuesday. Send along if that time line fits.  BIG ;o)

Gretchen. THANK YOU. Tuesday is fine - and there's no cooking - it's a salad. There is plenty of chopping, though. ;-) I'll send it along by CT post in just a sec.

Will it work here in Germany? If so, I'm game!

Resist the temptation to over-clean. After all, how many times do you need to kill the same germ.

I'll mail and ask you if the ingredient is still availabe in Germany - it probably is, since you're further north. Yippee! Two testers!!! :-)

What's the ingredient? Perhaps it's in season here?

I'll be happy to do it if the ingredient is still in season here!

I'm game, how many testers do you need?

evelyn's picture

One would do it as it's to clarify if the recipe would work with the ingredient that I can't access...but the more input the better. You want me to forward the recipe...or would you like to try one of its siblings? (there are 3 total, but the other 2 I have all ingredients for)

Unless you have too many testers already, I'd love to do it if I can get my hands on the mystery ingredient. :)

You will be posting all these recipes after the event? I would love to test but probably wouldn't be able to do it in your time frame.

I wish you the best of luck. I have yet to be disappointed with one of your recipes! :)

of course I will...I can't resist a contest. Gets my creative juices flowing. After the event I will post here so we can all shred them to pieces.LOL

Why not post it right here in the thread? you've got my curiosity up !

She can't. It's all part of a contest where recipes get submitted anonymously, and then reviewed by fellow members. Once it's all finished, the winner gets to choose the ingredients for the next year.

Evelyn, I'd be happy to give it a try too, if you are still looking for testers. I'm in Germany, and we're at a nice period of transition between spring and summer when there is a big selection in the markets.

It's SO good to be back! And yesterday and today, we finally have blue skies and warm temperatures. I celebrated yesterday with a Kraeterwanderung near Klais--the local Slow Food convivium sponsored it and we hiked through the meadows filled with spring flowers. The Enzian (gentians) are gone--by at least two weeks, but there are still a few orchids and multitudes of other flowers. A perfect day in the Werdenfels region!

I'd would like to try the recipe but don't know what the seasonal ingredient is. I'm in Connecticut and it's still very spring-like here.
