Venison stew with kumquats

I bought some venison a few days ago, let it marinate yesterday in what I call "sweet" spices (ginger, star anise, cinnamon, cloves, etc.) wine, garlic. There were lots of little bits left over from work yesterday - carrots in various small shapes, peppers the same. I sauteed that gently until fragrant and soft, added the venison and browned it lightly, added wine, let it simmer a while, added drird porcini, then regular mushroom, and toward the end, potatoes and some sliced kumquats that were also left over from yesterday. It's really very good, the kumquats lend a nice touch.


Ah, I love it when it works.
