Just opened yesterday. Whooo Hoooo. Can't wait to try the greek style yogurt. I want to compare it to my farmers market yogurt. The cheese department was just full of yummy wiscosnin cheese, some of which are hard to find in the regular stores. Should be a good adventure. Pamilyn

Went to the one out on Crossville today; they were out of a lot of their standard items!  You should have seen the shopping carts loaded.

The next one opens in Sandy Springs @ November 7th or so.  It is in the same plaza as Henri's satellite bakery and "The Scarlett Tassel".  North on Roswell, outside the perimeter.

I hope that I won't do impulse buying. Browsing can cause trouble.

Impulse buying at Trader JOe's??  Oh, horrors, no!!  THAT would NEVER be the case!!  You had best just not go, honest.

I have discipline sometimes:>)!!! I will look and get acquainted with the items. I was going to inquire as to the best items to buy but I see stock could be totally different from store to store.

Contrary to my reputation here, I also have discipline. TJ's is a whole new level of temptation.

However, I will say that I knew I couldn't get back, so you could go for a good reconnoiter and then return on the sly.

Hi JAS,
I was at that store today. It was so crowded! Many shelves were empty and the employees were desperately restocking. I have no idea how many people were in there, but it was quite a rush. I bought much more than I had intended, but it was a fun shopping spree. Everybody's carts were loaded. :)

Join me.  I'm in active pout mode.  Would love to have a TJ's anywhere between Tampa and Sarasota (especially in Bradenton).

Write a letter to them...not that they will tell you that one is coming soon, but they will at the very least, tell their "realtor".

I was told that one will be in Wilmington next year!

In the mean time, I brought home tons of nuts of all kinds, from TJ's in AZ

I will continue to do so with spices and other things until I can get to a local TJ's...

Are you in Willmington? I didn't know that. We are thinking of buying a small second home there some day. We wanted to buy something downtown but SIL says there is a lot of crime downtown. Is that true? (She is a very paranoid person, who is also a bit of a racist) Pamilyn

No, I live in Cape Carteret.  I am in Wilmington quite often for medical checkups, and I shop a lot down there.  Great shopping and the town has grown a great deal in the last few years.  Pretty expensive real estate, so keep your eyes on it while the market is slow.  A lot of new condos on the Military Road cut-off.  Mayfaire, I think.  A nice town center for shopping, but I am not sure of what the price ranges are for the condos.

There is a lot of crime downtown, or so I hear.  Check the newspaper from time to time.  The police reports should give you some idea of what goes on there.  The last time that I read anything was several months ago...a lot of downtown residents being attacked just for the fun of it.  I am not sure how it all turned out.  Like any other area, just check it out and if you can, talk to residents and shop owners.

We held off going, fearing the massive crowds. But, we're oh so excited, too. Yay!

Now, I can finally try some of the frozen things everyone raves about, in addition to feeding my guilty food addition to their peanut butter filled pretzel nuggets.

The east coast and west coast stores have different stocks, so what Risottogirl raves about may not be available for Jillsifer.  I'm not sure how it all meets in the midwest!

At any rate, I'm jealous.  I hit TJ's whenever I'm in a city with one (well, at least I did when I was traveling a lot), but it's something like an 8-hour drive to the closest store to me. Major pout.

Our T.J.'s here doesn't carry the peanut butter pretzel nuggets. Such a crime.

DeannaS's picture

Egads! The horrors! Our local one had better! I'm assuming the stuff they carry will be pretty similar to the Chicago area T.J's, as those are the closest to here. Those carry them. I hadn't even considered that they might not have them.

Okay, probably better for me if they don't and they are still the random treat for driving to Chicago.

The various TJs in the Boston area vary a bit from one another as to what they carry - demographics maybe?

I'm addicted to those peanut-butter filled pretzels too. Now if only they offered a chocolate-covered version...(actually, it's probably better for my waistline that they don't!)

DeannaS's picture

Hm...you know, I don't think I'd be tempted by that. I do love chocolate and peanut butter together, but only as a dessert type item, not as a snack food.

But, come to think of it, I think I might have seen chocolate covered ones once at T.J's. I'll keep my eye out and let you know if I do see them.

Just read in the Observer: TJ's is opening in Dec in Cary - at the Shoppes of Kildare. This is just off Kildare Farms rd, just north of Whole Foods.

Fresh Market is opening a larger store next week just up the road from it's now Kildare Farms Rd location - the old location will close. I am curious if that is where TJ's is moving in, or if it is the old Piggly Wiggly that remains vacant. Both are in that shopping center. hmmm.

At any rate, it will now be about 10 minutes from me - I think the nearest I have ever lived to a TJ's is 30 minutes.

Should be fun.
