Oxford Symposium on Food and Cookery

Maedl's picture

It's probably a bit late to mention this for those of you living on the eastern side of the pond, but for anyone interested in food history, the annual Oxford Symposium on Food and Cookery is coming up from 12 - 14 September. Here's the URL for more info: http://www.oxfordsymposium.org.uk/

This will be my third symposium and I've enjoyed them all. The participants come from both sides of the Atlantic, with the greatest numbers coming from the UK and US. But there are plenty of participants from the rest of Europe and a few from South America as well.

Each year the presentations focus on one particular theme. This year the focus is vegetables--last year was the politics of food and next year will be fermentation. The weekend is thought-provoking, you can experience life at an Oxford college, and do a bit of sightseeing in Oxford as well.
