How do I sweeten a fresh mango and also fresh kiwi fruit for a salad? (post #71261)
Judy/AZ on Fri, 04/22/2011 - 11:37
I bought what a thought was a fresh mango and kiwi fruit. They both had a 'give' when pressed. I put both in a paper bag for a few days and tried to ripen them further. I need them tomorrow for a fruit salad. I peeled and chopped both of them and they are not sweet at all. Could I soak them in a simple syrup or sprinkle them with sugar?

Fruit salad (post #71261, reply #1 of 3)
I have been using a lot of agave syrup lately, might work great in a fruit salad made a head of time. Honey might work as well.

I drizzled some honey over the cut mango - what a difference it made! Thank you so much for your suggestion - it is greatly appreciated.
When i have fresh fruit that (post #71261, reply #3 of 3)
When i have fresh fruit that just isn't quite "there", I use a sprinkle of aspartame on them. It makes them seem exactly at the peak of ripeness with no other "flavor".
