"Eat-Vancouver" Anyone going?

Debby's picture

It's on this weekend coming up--from the 25th thru the 27th.  Info @ www.eat-vancouver.com.  Have wanted to go the last few years, but this year is it!

My sister and a friend of hers are coming over from the Island and we'll be staying two nights at one of the hotels downtown.  We're really looking forward to the whole experience!  Has anyone been?  Any suggestions?

Glenys?  Will you be there?

Haven't been. I'm teaching on Saturday and my parents are in town so who knows what trouble we'll be getting into.

So where are you doing most of your teaching these days, Glenys?  We've missed seeing you out this way!

Have fun with your Mom and Dad!

RoAnne is mailing out a roster today. I've got some coming up at the farm as well and a really busy batch Books to Cooks during June.

We went a few years ago. It's basically a trade show, but fun. I doubt we'll be going (though maybe Saturday, depending on weather. If it's a nice day, probably not. BTW, give us a call, and we can get together for lunch at Seasonal Experience one of these days.

Shall try to catch you next week to see if we can set up a lunch--would love that!  Are there specific days of the week that work best for you, or does that continually change?

Not sure if I'm going to Eat Vancouver, but will be hitting the farmers market on Saturday.  As for doing my part of "Buying Locally"...we brought back 40 bottles of wine from the Okanagan this weekend, does that count?  :)

Yum!!  These must be for your CT cooking project, right?! <G>   Do you have a favorite farmers market?

Yeah, Union Square NY, but it's a bit far to travel for greens :)  I hit the Vancouver one at trout lake pretty regularly.

I'm working a nind-day fortnight, and have every second Friday off. My next free Friday is June 1. (Though I also have some vacation time coming to me, and could probably use a day or two here and there).

June 1st would probably work for me--or the 15th.   Let me know what you think.

The first works for me too. BTW, have you received a brunch invite from Seasonal Experience? If not, email me at home, and I'll forward it to you - it's a really good promo deal.

Oh, I just remembered -- Saturday is also the open house at Vista d'Oro. Will almost definitely be doing that. And I think the East Van Farmer's Market opens then too. Whaaa... why does everything have to happen on the same day???

East Van market was supposed to open on the 19th - did that not happen? I'll go this week and am really looking forward to it.

Maybe -- I thought it was this weekend coming up, but I've been known to be wrong before. We don't usually use the E. Van market (distance and time work against it) but I'd like to start going more frequently this year, especially after reading B. Kingsolver's book.

I haven't read Kingsolver's book yet, but for several years I've been trying to buy locally. It's hard to do though when I get a yen for a mango. I guess that's when it time to change MY locale!

Not to mention chocolate, coffee, and champagne.

Took my Mom out to Vista d'Oro last week--love the changes they've made!  They are so busy!  Picked up some lovely tomato plants and a few potted herbs--lost a number of herbs over the winter!

How's Peter coming with his vegetable garden ideas?  Is he thinking of building raised beds?--They're so much easier to look after!

Yeah, it's getting frighteningly easy to drop some serious $$$ at that little gem, isn't it? Vegie garden is still a theory, though I did plant a few things last weekend, and will be planting tomatoes and basil in the next couple of weeks. Maybe next year???
