Cooking Travel in France
Many years ago there was an issue that had a story about one of the editors renting a home in Uzes France. I think the article was titled "cooking vacations" or something like that.
Any ideas on what issue it may have been in? I am looking for an apartment/small cottage to rent in the South of France and from what I recall that was a good article

Are you looking for a cooking (post #69727, reply #2 of 5)
Are you looking for a cooking experience or just a place to stay. If it is the latter I suggest you search on Fodor's travel for ideas, or google search for gites in southern France. You could also look on Delphi forums for PBProvence's website which has many many very knowledgeable Francophiles with good recommendations for this--or the cooking. I could probably help you in Paris, if you wanted.

Hi Gretchen,
I am looking for a nice apartment to rent for about 2 weeks. The requirements are: it must be near a great outdoor maket and must be clean!
I stayed in Uzes 3 years ago and it was awesome. They have a great saturday market and it is in a great area for wine.
I just plan on relaxing, cooking for myself, eating out, sleeping and drinking wine for 2 weeks!
I have looked at a few websites for apartment rentals, but finding an apartment for 2 in Provence/Languedoc is proving to be tougher that finding an apartment for 2 in Paris (I have rented in Paris before)

I suggest Fodor's. They have MANY people who are very knowledgeable and helpful with sites. You also might look at Villeneurve d'Avignon, the small town across the river (?) from Avignon. I would imagine apartments in Provence would be more difficult than a gite.

http://www.slowtrav.com/france/vr/list.a... and the slowtrav message board at http://slowtalk.com/groupee/ . The first link is to reviews of apartments and gites in Provence. The second link to the message board will require you to search on Provence, but there's a wealth of information there.
Personally, I highly recommend http://www.olivettes.com/ in Lourmarin. The Friday market there is wonderful, one of the best in the area.
