Vanilla Cupcake Recipe?? (post #63446)

in

I want to make some cupcakes for Easter with little chocolate eggs stuffed in the middle. The trouble is I don't have a Tried and True recipe for cupcakes as I don't bake a lot. Do you have any suggestions??

TIA

I should probably shut up, as I don't make a lot of cakes. But, in my limited experience, just about any cake recipe will work in cupcake format.

Really?? what sort of timing and temp??

Do you know of a good one?? I am also not much of a cake maker at all, so any help is appreciated.

I don't have a recipe for you. But, I think the temp is usually the same, but the time is just a lot shorter - like 15-20 minutes.

Look for a recipe specifically for cupcakes.  The leavening is slightly different because you want a nice rounded top, not flat like a layer cake comes out.  FC did an issue on cupcakes a while back or I can give you the recipe from Whimsical Bakehouse, they are very good.

FWIW, the cupcakes I've made with cake recipes always domed, don't think I've ever used an actual cupcake recipe.

But, but, it's SUPPOSED to taste like that!

That looks good and basic thank you. I wouldn't need to alter anything for the chocolate egg inside would I??? It's just like a big chocolate chip..

Not that I know anything (heh) but I would think you'd be fine just poking the chocolate egg into the center before baking.

A cute decoration for Easter cupcakes is shredded coconut tinted green, topped with jelly beans (looks like eggs hidden in the grass).

Just stick that chocolate egg in there..I see no prob whats so ever..but I can tell you I served the cupcakes to kids and they were a success.

The Ice Water White Cake by Chiqui is excellent. I've made it into cupcakes and they turned out really well (24). Search in the T&T folder. I like your idea with the chocolate egg inside. Cheers
