Store-bought shortbread cookies

jocelyng's picture

I'm making the Lemon Curd Mousse Cake from the April Bon A p pe t i t for a luncheon on Wednesday.  It calls for a shortbread crust.  I can't think of the name of the store brand for these.  Can someone help my non-functioning brain?

Thanks.

Are you talking about shortbread cookies or a premade crust?

I'll make the crust.  I need the brand of cookies.

Thanks.

Is it Lorna Doone?

I'm sure that's it.  Thanks.  My mind was a blank.

No problem. BTW, the cake sounds great and something I'd be interested in. Let me know how it turns out!

It's for another teacher's lunch (other child), so I will only know how it is based on their comments (which are a little undiscriminating!).  Anyway, I'll let you know.

Walker's is the best known brand of shortbread, IMO.

Now that you mention it, I have seen that brand around, but not at our local market.  They will be crushed in the crust, so I think the Lorna Doons will be fine.  I'll keep Walkers in mind if I make it again.

Thanks.

I remember these from my childhood, but I don't remember ever seeing those here in Northern CA.

Walker's are the best.

But, but, it's SUPPOSED to taste like that!

Walker's is the only brand of supermarket shortbread DH will bother eating. They are really very good.

My DSIL, who is Irish, loves Walkers.

forget brand - anything with that much butter in it is bound to be good! ;-)

Thus speaks the voice of reason!

Butter is good.

FWIW, I liked Peak Freen's, but Mom loved Lorna Doone's.
