Sourdough (post #71616)


I made a sourdough starter, following the method in Peter Reinhardt's Artisan Breads every day.  Now I have this little ecosystem that needs to be fed, tended, and (I hope) not wasted.  Anyone have good suggestions for using starter?  I've been making Reinhardt's San Francisco sourdough.

You can make rolls. Pizza dough. Pancakes.  You can probably freeze it. and sometimes, you just have to feed it and discard part.

Good suggestions, thanks Gretchen and DashX-- I made a batch of sourdough bread today, but I think some sourdough waffles are definitely in my future.  Thanks for the site DashX--King Arthur Flour also has a bunch of great recipes.  Their Sourdough English Muffins sound great. I hate throwing out that old starter, but you are right, it must be done sometimes!
