Lemon Layer Cake (post #65177)

in

Here's a departure from all the gorgeously decorated cakes you all have been posting.

For my son's girlfriend's 25th birthday: 4 layers of white cake, filled with lemon curd, and frosted with a variation of 7-minute frosting. It's not gorgeous or creative, but it was cute and delicious. She's cute too!

She is precious, and so is the cake!  Now I'm hungry!

That looks delicious... I love 7-minute frosting!

"Attend to the details. Teach your children manners. Write cogent paragraphs. Drive carefully. And make a good potato salad, one with some crunch, maybe accompanied by a fried drumstick with crackly skin -- the humble potato and the stupid chicken, ennobled by diligent cooking -- and is this not the meaning of our beautiful country, to take what is common and enable it to become beautiful?"

My sides sloped :( I didn't think to pipe a dam first, and I should have. Oh well! No one cared and it tasted great :)

I love it. Lemon and meringue but not in a pie. Yum.

I guess we have different ideas of what gorgeous is. Looks gorgeous to me :-)

It looks festive and delicious.
I love 7 min. frosting too. You remind me I haven't made it for a long time.

That sounds and looks so good!  You mentioned all of our "decorated" cakes (g) but as much as I enjoy baking them, I would ask for the cake you made for MY birthday. (g)  Really.

Both your cake and son's girlfriend are lovely. Like LuciaK, I'd be proud to have made that cake.

You can have my share; it's pretty, but I can't abide Seven Minute Icing. ;-)

In earlier days, I tried to make some for one cake or another and the da**ed stuff never did set up, but it's too sweet for me, anyway. Surely does make a nice looking cake though.

I can't tell you how often I read something here that I totally agree with and see that it is a post from Marcia. ;-)

Heather, that was such a sweet thing for you to say. You made my day! :)

Maybe we are long lost sisters. LOL

Maybe we are--I've never managed to track down my biological father, we could be half-sisters. ;-)

That IS interesting. My parents married late, and my father had a wild youth. I do know that he was a great believer in birth control, but anything is possible. I've sometimes wondered if I had some half siblings around somewhere.

I'm 62 and believe you may be a couple of years older. Hummm....

I didn't tell you that your post touched me deeply because of how very much I value your opinions. :)

I'm also 62, I'll be 63 in October. Yikes! How did that happen?!
Thank you very much for your kind words.

It's unlikely that we are sisters, in that case, but there are ways of being related other than by blood.

DH and I are the same age, and we sometimes wonder how we could have been naive enough to think we would not get old...er...I mean older. <G>

Now it's not so much creeping as running. :(

But, but, it's SUPPOSED to taste like that!
