cookie problem (post #63379)

in

Hi- I'm new here.  I just made a great cookie recipe "Glazed Maple-Pecan Cookies" from the Winter 2005 Holiday Baking Special Issue.  There is a pure maple sugar/confectioners' sugar glaze that is put on after they come out of the oven.  I just made them Sunday and the glaze is now turning white in spots.  I stored some in a cookie jar, and froze some to give as gifts. Both are turning white and they don't look very appealing now. What's happened?

Thanks for any input.

Sorry, a correction.  That should read "pure maple syrup" not sugar.

Thanks.

I think the glaze has crystallized, why I'm not sure. I always say, when faced with a blooper, well, it will still taste good! And most people won't even think the cookies have a problem - call them snowflake cookies or something, to excuse the white spots!
