Class update (post #64841)

in

I thought I'd take a minute to show everyone what I've been up to for the past couple of weeks. I'm going to spare you the pictures of pies, which is what we started with, and show you this dessert. It is a creme caramel with a vanilla tuile cylinder and a caramelized sugar spiral. The spiral is made by caramelizing sugar that has had a few drops of lemon added at the start. Once the sugar is at the right color, it is piped out in the spiral pattern onto a Silpat. A small offset spatula is used to loosen the spiral once it cools. At that point the spiral is springy and, if you lift it by the center blob, it drapes nicely over the tuile cylinder.

The people who gave us golf and called it a game are the same people who gave us bag pipes and called it music and haggis and called it food.

Is that a non-GFI outlet I see there by the sink?

PeterDurand's picture

These days one mounts the GFI breaker in a panel or sub panel. They are not cheap but when you consider that they will protect a number of outlets, it is the better way to go.

Peter

Do you start eating the spiral at the blob, or does it require a swift whack with a dessert fork, or something. Looks kinda, goofy. LOL.
