butter cake - quantities

I've got a 28cm (11 inch) spring form cake tin and was wondering if anyone knew a website where it explains how to adjust quantities for a basic buttercake (or better still one that sits in the tin until serving that i'll ice in it) or knows how themselves, because i need to use this fat tin but i've only got an orange cake recipe that uses 500g butter and i was hoping to find a recipe that a) isn't orange and b)doesn't use 500g butter
