Late Request for Help

A Personal Chef friend of mine from CA posted a note in another forum on Christmas eve (about 7 PM) LA time indicating that the personal assistant to a Pro football player that she cooks for had "forgotten" that he had invited 16 people to dinner on Christmas Day and was telling her that she had to come prepare dinner for him and his guests.  Rrrriiiiiiigggggghhhhhhtttt! 


He never keeps anything in his fridge or freezer and all the stores were closed.


I am anxiously awaiting a report on what finally transpired.  What's wrong with a guy that forgets he invited 16 people to dinner and then forgot to arrange for it.

Nope, just passing on what I thought was an interesting little tidbit.  Pro football player; mucho dinero; forgets his friends for Christmas dinner.

he'd better fork over a generous part of that mucho dinero if he expects your friend to work ?Christmas Day. Celebrity unfortunately doesn't come with any kind of fininshing school to ensure good ettiquette, and frankly, i can see where these folks with their heads in the clouds way above the rest of us might assume too much and forget plenty. not excusing it, just doesn't surprise me. I hope your friend's hard work and sacrifice was appreciated.

Talked to my friend last evening...the call came at 10PM Christmas Eve on the left coast, when she said 10 I for some reason assumed 10 eastern, 7 Pacific...wrong.  Which makes it even worse. She turned them down but undeerstand he did find a chef to do it for $500 bucks a head plus cost of food.  Good for him/her!

Just a thought:  You call me 14 hours before a dinner party on Christmas Day and want my service.  $5oo per head would not even get me to look for a pencil to start the menu.

i'm guessing the chef who took the job happened to be sitting in a good situation to jump on this job, possibly already in or coming off a production mode and with access to a bigger kitchen and some assistance too.
My first thought is that i hope TC2's friend doesn't lose her job with this guy just because she didn't bend over backwards to accomodate this 'emergency'.

A couple of years ago, on about 3 days notice, I agreed to do a Superbowl Party of sorts - a four course seated dinner for 12 - during the game, in front of an enormous tv screen. The person requesting my services was a fairly well known television and film actor who was back "home" (from LA) in Maine visiting family and friends. He also happens to be an old boyfriend of mine and our moms had run into each other at the supermarket and sort of put us back in touch.


I told him I wan't interested and he kept raising the $$ offer until I couldn't refuse. He was not picky about the menu at all.

Agree with Jean.... curiosity is killing me

but, if you cannot give Names.... could you tell the menu you came up with? I am sure it was awesome!

three days notice - that would mean hyperventilation non stop for me
