Yes, they did!
Not cute, but beautiful. You know I love your flowers, and I'm sure those cupcakes were delicious as well. :)
OMG! You are fab! Those cupcakes are beautiful.
Beautiful! I wish I could pipe flowers. :)
"Attend to the details. Teach your children manners. Write cogent paragraphs. Drive carefully. And make a good potato salad, one with some crunch, maybe accompanied by a fried drumstick with crackly skin -- the humble potato and the stupid chicken, ennobled by diligent cooking -- and is this not the meaning of our beautiful country, to take what is common and enable it to become beautiful?"

It's not really that hard. I did a wedding cake years ago and was surprised how good they looked. I think they are easier to do than those finicky things you make! Beautful, but very finicky, at least in my book. try the piping thing, you just might be surprised.

PS Congrats on getting the dress.

I tough myself with a Wilton book in hand. I'm by no means an expert, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly. I mostly make small flowers, sometimes on sugarcubes. They look so cute and are a nice little something to liven up a cup of coffee :o)
Beautiful.

They are so sweet!
Thanks, everyone!
Tracy, I found a basic Wilton course (through my local Michael's crafts store) invaluable to learning to pipe flowers. I think it's really hard to learn without seeing it in front of you. Of course, now there are probably clips on YouTube that show you how, as well. It's not nearly as hard as it looks.

They are beautiful.

Just fabulous!!! It's what you would expect to see at a lovely tea party in a fancy hotel!! Are those flowers made with Royal Icing??
Thanks for the compliments, all!
Chiqui, no, the flowers are made with Italian meringue buttercream -- my default icing. The only time I use royal is on decorated cookies, and rarely at that.

How do you make those???? Do you do them directly on the cake??? They are so delicate and so beautiful!! Just lovely!!
Aw, thanks! I do them ahead with a flower nail and little squares of parchment paper. The flowers on parchment go onto a sheet pan and into the freezer until I'm ready to use them. I have to be pretty quick about placing them on the cupcakes, as they do warm up VERY quickly.

FABULOUS!!!!!
I have a question...I am making a shower cake and I'm going to use the RLB Mouseline Buttercream since you reccommend it so highly. How many recipes will I need to fill and ice a 14", 10" and 7" layers????
I'm going to make the White cake I posted years ago!!
TIA

I think 4 batches will do it -- the yield is about 1 quart per recipe, if that helps at all. Rose's metric is that one batch is enough to ice and fill two 10-inch layers, so I think 4 recipes will give you enough plus a bit extra.

They're beautiful! I always hate to eat anything that looks that pretty, but I do give in. ;^)
You're supposed to give in or they'd just get stale. ;-)
Of course, and we can't let that happen. ;0)
It would be a terrible waste.
beauties. :-)
Very pretty Ruth!
